nooooo my ps3 hard drive is corrupted and it constantly goes in circles of trying to restore my hdd what on earth do i do ???? i thought it was indestructable !!! want to cry right now its like my soul lol..... any ideas other than take it back ??

You might be able to send the old drive straight back to the manufacturer to and get a replacement. I know that Seagate have a very good returns service on their website, although I can't rembember what drives are in the PS3's... aren't they Samsung Spinpoints?

Seagates I thought?

Can check properly when I get home though.

Thats right they are Seagate drives (bit tired today!). Seagate have a really good and easy replacement policy and will replace drives up to about 5 years old I beleive - just type in the serial number from the drive and it will tell you how long the warrabty is left.

got a replacement ...... will arrive on monday get 3 months warrenty on it too so thats an extra month ...... think ill stick a bigger hdd in when i get this new one

I have never had a problem with a refurb drive and it's better than keeping the broken one so I don't see your point!

Indeed, nothing wrong with a refurbished drive. I just had a really nasty feel after I sent back my 6 month old 320GB drive to Seagate when it started developing bad sectors quicker than the current job loss rate in the UK, only to get a nice big padded box back with a sealed drive inside with a slight alteration to the OWM lable. The adition being a green bar printed on it "Refurbished by Seagate". Also had scratch marks down the side where it had been used in a previous machine.

I can understand that hard drives aren't really FRU's, but having spent the extra compared to a Maxtor or Hitachi and being given a 5 year warranty to get a srive back that has printed on it "Refurbished by Seagate" felt a bit off. Maybe I'm just anal :o

Buy a new drive, connect the old drive to your PC and try data recovery, maybe you can save your savegames :)

Or try a Format of the drive and see if that helps.
