It is a great game. One of the things I really love about it is the fact that you can set up your men to put suppressing fire on enemy positions so they keep their heads down. You then you can take your time having a look around and figure out what to do confident in the knowledge that your squad mates will more than not likely kill the Germans in the meantime. It makes it sweet when you figure out what you are doing and then put it into action and have have some enemies to shoot at. However the system also allows for quick on the spot decisions. Works really well.
Plus love the new rocket team!
Some negative comments:
1) Have not got massively far into the game as of yet, but feel that so far (compared especially to the first game) that the levels are more constrained. I remember with the first the rather more open levels: A town where you had free run in and the with which you could flank, get flanked back etc etc, and generally run in circles. The open fields where you have to clear those posts. can anyone tell me if the levels become more open later in the game?
2) They seemed to have removed the assault function/ability which was present in the first. Where you selected the assault team, cursored over the enemy and then hit the fire button , instead of releasing the button. This caused you assault team to rush the enemy position chucking grenades in first. This worked great and wish it was in this game - I used it loads towards the end and indeed found it essential. As far as I can see if you click fire it just cancels the order. I have checked the button settings and checked the manual but no sign of it. Anyone? I suppose the rocket team make up for it a bit - but will I always have that team. Not a major hassle but would have liked to see this ability.
Anyway - still a great game though.
edit: On the people having a go at this game - this is on the forum that saw quite extensive slagging of Half Life 2, Bioshock and Crysis upon their release. All excellent games, with flaws, but excellent as well. Not everyone here is like that but it does seem to be that there are quite a few very outspoken individuals. Not everyones fault though - these games to tend to get hyped beyond all expectations, but stilll.......
Lets see what happens when FarCry2 is released aye
