Suggestions for ADSL router with Gigabit ports

I'm (hopefully) moving in to my first house in a few weeks and have been looking at getting stuff sorted for it. One of the things i need to get is a new ADSL router. The line supports max of around 6mb over IPStream so ADSL2 is not required but would be preffered for the future.

I'd really like it to have Gigabit ports as i do lots of moving large files across the small wired LAN, and as i do a fair bit of PC/Xbox gaming i need plenty of control over any integrated firewall.

So far i have looked at the Apple Airport Extreme and the Belkin N1 Vision, but i've never been a massive fan of Belkin so wondered if anyone had any opinions or suggestions on the ones i have looked at or alternatives.

Thanks.

This question has come up a few times and as i remember there arent exacly a big selection to choose from. I think there is a business class netgear one but i dont have a link.

As has been discussed before, it's far cheaper and better performing for you to just get a normal router and a gigabit switch to go along with it.

Suddenly the world is your oyster.

DLink DIR-655
Netgear WNR854T

both £100+

Cheaper option is always going to be a power extension lead + gigabit switch + normal router

I don't mind about cost, just after a single solution.

Those two you mentioned seem to be cable routers rather than ADSL routers?

Anyone got any opinions on the N1 Vision or the Airport Extreme?

My google skills are weak :(

N1 is a belkin which is generally a very large no-no.

It would appear the airport extreme is the last choice, but that doesnt have a dsl modem in it either.

Fair play to you guys, i may have to give in and get a seperate router and switch, but i'm a stubborn git and just want something that does it all.

Good point about the Airport, forgot it doesn't have a modem integrated. Damn you Apple...guess i'll look around for a DG834G or something :P

If you go for something without a modem then you could always get an AM200 to go with it - it's about the best modem you can get and is as good as/better than any router for ADSL2+/etc.
