*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

Do you reckon it's easier to rank up RR at the same time as EXP? So far i'm keeping my RR at 1:1 with my exp rank, but it's time consuming. Would it be easier to level up then go back and do RVR for Renown?

It depends how you level, if you're doing lots of scenarios you'll find that they'll stay relatively the same levels since your gaining lots of RR at the same time as Exp for your Ranks.

Doing Keep raids with guilds and defending keeps will give you huge RR boosts, I went from RR11 to RR14 on Saturday and all we did was a keep raid, some outpost captures and battled destruction for ages :)

Personally, as long as your Renown Rank isn't hugely off your level I wouldn't be too worried. If it starts dropping say, 4 or 5 levels off then start trying to boost it.

Before Saturday I was level 16 and my RR was only about 10 or 11, I was noticing I was picking up quite a few items that were for my level but I wasn't at a high enough renown rank to use them. So when that starts happening, get worried! :p

Ah ha, thanks :)
That's explain why I couldn't to Norden. one then. It also explains why I was getting my arse kicked in the new ones when I got access to them :(

Yeah, you'll find that you'll get buffed up to a higher rank when you first access them but you won't have all the spells/attacks of that rank.

You'll also notice that when you reach the higher ranks of a tier you'll get A LOT more Exp from doing scenarios than when your at a lower rank.

Winning a scenario with my bright wizard now and I'll get around 13,000+ experience :)

It makes levelling a character a doddle!

Okies, thanks. I'm 13 now with RR9. I'll do some scenarios for a while. There's a keep in Troll Country also. Not seen it attacked yet but i'll keep an eye out :)

You can get into t4 sceanrios at level 28, but im level 28 and wouldnt dream of it yet, There is no point you will get slaughtered even bolstered or whatever they call it.
stats to level 18/28/38 does not mean you have that level of gear/skills or loot. so most times you will get battered.

That sad you can hold your own and it is not a solo combat game so organisation beats level..

Yeah the buffing only boosts your health and your action points, it doesn't increase your DPS or any skills, and it doesn't give you extra spells/attacks.

It just means that you wont get killed in one hit.

It's quite funny when you play Nordenwatch early on watching the level 1's hold their own against level 11's simply because they've got roughly the same health.

Yeah i started in Nordenwatch at Rank 2. I think the only thing you have against you is that people see "2" and gang up on you. The gap in skills isnt big enough to make it too difficult to survive though.

I do scenarios from level 1 as order you can easily do levels 1-5 very quickly through scenarios and you can even win a few as well :D

You can quest whilst waiting for the scenarios to pop but as order on Karak Orrud I rarely get far before the scenario calls me back in.

Wondering if I should get into this.

90% of the reason I play mmo's is for the PvP, I like WoW and its PvP. Only thing I don't like about WoW is grinding. I don't like AoC because of its combat, its boring leveling (after a while) and PvP I don't like either.

Considering those points, do you think I should try WAR?

Unfortunately you'd have to put out the cash for WAR as there is no free trial, but I seriously do think you should try it.

PvP and RvR in WAR is brilliant, you get access to it straight away as well... if you join a scenario you're straight into PvP action with teams of at least 10+ on each side.

Doing quests and stuff can be a bit annoying same as any MMO really, but the PvP and RvR side of things is great.

The main things I like about WAR, which WoW didn't have for me... is that I constantly find myself wanting to work towards something - whether its a level I've spotted for a spell I want, getting to level 20 to get my mount or just generally wanting to better my character.

There seems to be a sense of greater good in WAR, especially with our guild. Doing keep raids with over 100 people spanning multiple warbands is intimedating at times, (especially when I was in control of them ) but it just leaves you feeling... "This is what an MMO should be like"

Sending runners from the keep in Mandreds - Ostland, up to Troll Country to buy cannons and oil because ours have broken, getting people to rally around defending the keep against the destruction while a small group breaks away to take the other outposts on the map.

Awesome :D

When my game arrives tommorow, I'm gonna roll Order. Would I be able to join the OcUk guild? I'd really like to help on raids etc.

What server etc should I go on?

Can't wait for this to be delivered! :D

Just hit rank 5 and still can't make my mind up about this game. I know it's the early stages but it's just not grabbing me at the moment. It's probably got something to do with my server, there never seems to be anyone on it! I did manage to finish a PQ today though and then thought I'd have a bash at the next one (Gates/Battle of Erklund?). I joined the scenario queue for about 30 mins and nothing, does it always take this long?

I do like my dwarf IB though cos it's not a role I normally play. I'll keep plugging away though until the end of my 30 days and see how things go.

zom247 it sounds like your on an unpopulated server, when I do "Join All" on a scenario I can generally get into one within a few minutes.

I play on Sea of Dreams and it's never short of a battle in an SC and there's always things going on :)

Don't expect WoW levels of busy though, the server caps are a lot lower than WoW so you're never going to get to that kind of busy.

I'm on "Medium" pop for my server (Axe Bite Pass) and there's usually enough people around to form PQ's on busy times.

Will the server caps be raised, at any point? This game thrives on big numbers, moreso than WoW, so you need fairly hefty capacity in order to keep Tiers full enough.

As a previous WoW fanboy - I'm seriously thinking about cancelling my WotLK preorder (especially with the planned god-awful changes they're making) and just playing WAR...not sure I could go back to the quest-grind...

Are you in a guild yet? If not and you want to help us out, give me a shout ingame Bongofury.

Even if you are in a guild, give me a shout anyway:cool:

Unless you are one of the baddies:mad:

Can we change servers at all or am I stuck where I am? Where does it say how populated your server is? I might have to re-roll on another server then.

Just looked on the WAR site and I'm on a core server, what exactly does that mean?

It means that you can't go and pick on the little guys in PvP without being turned into a 1HP chicken. It's not a roleplaying server either so you don't need to actually believe that you are an elf to play on it.
