Basically I only need to insure until the end of Feb yet all the quotes I have been getting online are annual. I guess I could just choose the monthly payment method and cancel it when I need to? Could be a stupid question but I'm not very clued up on insurance tbh.

You can use dayinsure.com to insure on a day by day basis - not sure what the maximum time is and whether the car needs other annual insurance as well or not

I think dayinsure is 20 days. The way to go would be to get a years policy and cancel it when you're done with it.

You'll pay for 5 months or so, and either not pay the rest of the months, or get the unused portion of the premium refunded, depending on whether you went one payment or monthly.

Ecar do monthly insurance policies I think?

If you take out an annual policy and pay monthly you'll pay interest at a stupid rate and if you cancel the insurance, you'll probably owe more cash due to the cancellation charge etc as you're basically taking out a loan for the total cost of your premium.

Cheers guys I ended up taking out another years policy with my current company (Hastings) as they were cheapest, I guess I will just have to pony up the fees when I cancel.
