Do you freeze 'Bread'...?

So you stand by your statement anyone who puts a loaf of bread in the freezer is an idiot!
I didn't say that. I said that freezing bread is idiotic. Consequently, by that logic I suppose you could say that it indirectly incriminates bread freezers as idiots but that's not necessarily the case. Everyone does something idiotic now and again but not everyone is an idiot.

I think someone who becomes offended by my dislike of frozen bread is an idiot, though.

Class! :) There's sooooo many flaws in your statements it's impossible to start - Can't compete with that! You win! :)
My opinion is a statement of my personal belief and standpoint on the matter. It fundamentally cannot be flawed in that sense.
And yes, I always win.

You're arguing about freezing bread? That has to be a joke, like black is white or so on...

Well, I have a neighbour who believes that freezing something, magically makes meat and the like fine well past its use by date :D

Err, I guess you're joking right?

I'm not the slightest bit offended by anything you've said... Mildly amused yes, offended no :)

You've deemed the actions of anyone freezing bread as idiotic... I've tried to explain why some people in the real world may do this.

Let's call it a day and put this thread back in the quick freeze section :)

We'll being crying over frozen spilt milk next!

Yes, I am for real. Are you?
....Even if it wasn't quicker, having fresh bread instead of hard and brittle defrosted bread is worth the extra effort of getting off your lazy arse and going to the shop.

There is a button on my toaster for "defrost", so the manufacturer thinks that this is not an "idiotic" choice but a normal one done by many people.

Going to the shops in your uneconomical car is not greener than going to the freezer.

Have you got a small freezer? We have 2 freezers. We freeze anything from steak to milk.

There may be a difference between frozen food (stuff we freeze I'm not talking about fish fingers), but since I eat more than 3 times a day it especially makes more sense to me to make full use of modern appliances such as freezers and fridges which are designed to give you more time to do what you want.

You won't ever convince me that I should be cooking 3 or 4 times a day when I can cook once and eat over the next few days. If you eat cereal, sandwiches and then cook once fresh at night, I bet you wouldn't do the same if you had to cook "fresh" 3 or 4 times a day. Utter nonsense.

Your whole reason for calling people idiots (and lazy lard .....)who freeze bread is based on the fact that YOU prefer the taste of fresh bread.

Who cares? I drive around on the rev limiter in my 3 litre sports car getting less than 10mpg just for the fun of it. A loaf of bread isn't going to make any difference. If anything it makes me happier since I know I'm really annoying hippies. I ****ing hate hippies.

*edit*

Also, reminds me where he frozen milk, and took out out a while later - it turned a nice bright yellow apparently :/

As long as you freeze it while its still in date and youve got a good constantly cold freezer meat is fine well past its use by date

I'd rather die of hunger than eat bread that has been frozen, utterly disgusting.
Disgusting as in taste? Or something else?

You recon you can taste the difference? I recon I'd be hard pushed with brown bread and whole wheat rolls etc... And in the case of toast, nigh on impossible?

Freezing bread has been proven to damage the taste of it - the slow process makes ice crystal form that shatter the grains within the bread.

For decent taste and storage, things need to be flash frozen.

Does it damage the taste by 2% or as much as 15% :)

Personally, all tastes the same to me, especially wholemeal/brown. But TBH, I really don't eat much bread, apart from toast over the weekend... I probably only get through a couple of slices a week... Hence me doing the idiotic thing of freezing it :)

Really it's kinda pointless people getting worked up, even angry in the case of Scuzi, arguing about bread! Clearly a lot of people think it's a perfectly reasonable thing to do, others don't.

Yes, freezing does slightly reduce flavour in many foods, but it's more convenient and practical for those who clearly don't notice any difference. Many people/families grocery shop once a week, both because they find it more convenient and also because it's easier to budget. To claim that to be idiotic is unreasonable to say the least.
