I do think people forget that DDR2 Ballistix (and especially the Anniversarys)were unbelieveable clockers at the time they were first released.
Yes, they do die with horrible regularity, but Crucial just send you a new set, which might be a bit inconvenient, but it must be costing them a small fortune in warranty claims, which is surely all the driver they need to improve reliabilty. That, and the fact that we 'enthusiasts' are still a tiny part of their customer base and their 'standard' RAM doesn't die.
I've had GeIL, GSkill and Patriot RAM die on me as well, and the only company that sent me a new set the same week was Crucial. All the others were at least a 2 week wait.
Nowadays I take the small cost hit and buy Corsair - it does what it says on the tin and it doesn't die. It doesn't overclock either though.
