PS3 Firmware 2.5

MKV is highly unlikely. It is after all (mostly) a container for pirated high-definition shows and films which are destined for Blu-ray Disc.

I like this bit,,

Improved Official Bluetooth Headset wireless headset support, including an on-screen indicator that shows volume, battery charge, and mute functions.

Bluetooth Headset Wireless headset High Quality (HQ) mode, which utilises advanced wireless technologies and the headset's dual-microphone design to enable clear and wide-band wireless voice communication with PS3 system.

MKV is a video container format, pure and simple. Perhaps you forget, that a few years back everything of this nature was being posted in AVI format. MKV & MP4 are used at the moment purely because they are the containers of choice & currently the best for the job.

If you want an opinion, the main reason it hasn't been implemented yet is because MKV is OSS.

In the beginning they said they would never support DIVX but later on they did, I think they will do the same with MKV, would save a lot of time not having to use mkv2vob

The update is out gents, mine is downloading as we speak. I'll try Final Fantasy VIII as soon as I can find it (house in disarray), but just like the previous updates, I'm not holding my breath...

Still doesn't work:(

It's so annoying, my HDTV won't display PS1 games played via the PS2, and as FFVIII doesn't play on the PS3, I'm kinda borked :(

Bugger. If you're desperate I can confirm that *some* platinum versions work, but not all. I think really it's to do with the cutting edge (for the time) copy protection that Square used. Unfortunately it wasn't foolproof even on the PS1, and could sometimes kick in if the laser was particularly worn.

Why doesn't your LCD display PS1 games, is it really not possible?

You can always play it on the PSP with CFW, I think that works fine (it does fine with VII and IX)

Mine works, always has :p
For what it's worth, its the Platinum (SLES-02080). Others have posted that this one doesn't work though, so I've no idea whats going on.

Does flash 9 work or was it a rumour?

Works, Just watched a couple of videos in my favourites on it. The fullscreen option does not work though (I am sure you could with Flash Player 7 on PS3).

You can press R3 to zoom in a bit, but not as same as proper fullscreen.

Performance of the videos has definitely improved, before sound and video stuttered.

Having said that, I don't know how to "prove" it is flash player 9 tbh.

p.s. You can visit this thread on PS3 and click these links to test if you want:

BBC News is Flash 9 and all videos on there now work. However the iPlayer moans about JavaScript not being enabled so that still doesn't work.
