Heya

I currently have a pair of glasses with IR LED's on either side of them and an IR camera that is going to track these, but the LED's aren't that great, they are easily lost when the glasses are moved around.

There are 2 ideas to fix this,

1. Apply some sort of lense to the LED to spread the IR beams (refract the beam of light, not sure if thats the right phrase?)

2. Put loads of LED's on both sides of the glasses so there is always 2 IR beams visible to the camera.

Does anyone have any idea how best to approach this sort of thing? I'm bit out of my depth :-S

It could be too narrow a viewing angle? Many higher output LEDs actually just have reduced viewing angles, say from 30degrees to 15degrees. You have to check for that when you buy. If it is low it will be difficult for your camera to see from the sides. Using a lens to bring it back out probably won't work well and might be bulky, replace LEDs for wide viewing angle ones if possible :)

Completely the wrong forum for continuing the discussion in this direction, but that is amazing! Now need to go and get a Wii...

You can sand down the surface of the LED so it's all smoky, which should diffuse the light, although it will make it dimmer it will be visible from a wider angle. Or if you have space you could stick a ping pong ball over them.
