The Police Just Knocked...

id give the local station a call in the morning to ask what happened and maybe ask them to come at more sociable hours next time when its not important

How are we to know if it was important or not!!

As for the sociable hours things that is frankly ridiculous.

indeed, but they do tend to take lots of **** from scumbags so i can understand why they may not be so friendly.

So knocking on my door at the wee hours, with me kindly opening the door to them would make me the scumbag worthy of his special treatment? I've just submitted an informal complaint to the Humberside Police with regards to the incident.

Not like it's anything physical or inappropriate, just rude.

To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to make an informal complaint regarding a a police visit to ABC Street on 15th October 2008 at 23:50. A police officer visited the property at an unsociable hour seeking the Boyfriend (name: XXXX) to 1 of the 5 other shared house tenants.

It was 23:50 when the PC was knocking loudly which did catch my attention to kindly open the front door. They asked if I was XXXX, to which I replied he was upstairs in his room. The police officer then proceed to stepping into the property without my formal consent but I did not stop him from coming in. He then proceeded to walk up the stairs and seeked confirmation to which room XXX is in.

My complain is against the police constable's manners. Never mind asking if he is allowed into the property to seek for the intended person (with or without a warrant), there was not an ounce of courtesy to say thank you after simply striding into a shared property.

Might I suggest the specific PC to learn some basic manners before he gives out more bad reputation to the Humberside Police Force. In order for the Police Forces to be respected, they should respect the Joe Public they are serving.

Yours truly,
C. Jones

I can see your quite angry and i was not referring to you...(when i said scumbag)

I have seen (in person) and watched on TV scumbags that think its clever to give the police stick for no reason other than be complete ****'*

I was saying that the police are normal humans doing a job in which they deal with scumbags quite a lot of the time so i can empathise with them when they make the mistakes.

The police knocked on my door the other night to ask what house number it was when it clearly says on the front of the house and they were looking for a house further down the street, nowhere near my number....

I'm not angry, I'm just annoyed - it's been a long night.
As for the Police getting the stick from the scumbags and probably from joe public too, as I've stated, they want respect, they can earn it by simply being a little courteous. It'll be these type of incidents that annoys the non-scumbags.

What would have happened if it was a real incident and you were at the door denying them access .. because it was 'rude and late'?

Then they would have at least told me what is it regarding instead of just taking a step forward. I won't be such a pain as to say, No~ You ain't coming in if it's obviously something of an urgent matter.

I didn't find it rude until he took the step in and just walk upstairs.

I can't help but thinking they could have given you a warrant, or at the very least a message in a bottle.

I hope your mate was okay and he wasn't driven to tears, this girl... is it like every little thing she does is magic? Does she feel so lonely on her secret journey? At the very least the fuzz could have let you know what was going on, I'd just go back to my chair and drink another six pack so it makes you feel like your walking on the moon.

Then go tell your "mate" and this girl Roxanne to come next to you, tell them you feel like the King of Pain with every breathe you take because of what's going on, and it feels like they've got too much information while your still left in the darkness.

Hopefully that'll get them wrapped around your finger.

Quite a lot of grammatical errors in that mate, I'd check it over (again) before sending that copy out :p

Once it was established that you were not the person they wanted to talk to they are under no obligation to explain to you the nature of the visit.

lol~
In all seriousness, I don't give a damn what their business is upstairs as long as it doesn't next involve the police breaking doors.

My last experience with the Police visiting was fine, they managed to come in as one of the guys downstairs opened the door for them. The officer wasn't sure which room exactly, so he knocked on mine politely and say thanks before heading up. That is as simple as.

To be fair to the OP I don't think English is his first language.

Sadly, English is my first language and my grammar is poor. I am trying to improve it though. It's one of those trade off when brought up in a bi/multilingual family, it's all mumble jumbled.

Once it was established that you were not the person they wanted to talk to they are under no obligation to explain to you the nature of the visit.

That is true but in the case of an "emergency" or "serious incident", they can explain or do tell me it is of urgent matter. Not take a foot into the property.

Yeah in all seriousness I've never had any trouble like that before.

I've had the police visit me a few times and they've always knocked at a sociable hour and been very polite, always asking to come in first etc...etc...

I'm with the other guys though, I've always presumed they needed permission or a warrant to enter a property in such a manor very similar to balifs taking back unpaid for goods from credit cards or whatever...
