P5E3 Premium - bios boot intermittent??

P5E3 Premium (Winbond W83627DHG)
BIOS ver 0402
Q9450 + ThermalRight Extreme
OCZ DDR3 2000 MHZ (OCZ3P20004GK) @ 9-9-9-24

I've ran this system in various configurations, auto clock and overclocked, and from new (its 2 months old) its had an issue.

When powering up the system from cold, half the time it does not boot and the screen remains black. Pressing the reset button usually causes it to boot.

Any ideas what might cause this?

Seems to be a PSU issue, What PSU are you using?

Why does it seem to be a PSU issue?

Its a coolermaster modular 1k

We've other systems that use same PSU

Do you suggest we swap PSUs between machines to test the PSUs

I would. do that, at the very least then its proving whether its the PSU causing the issue

But isn't that easy to say for any other part on the system?

I could swap out every single part except for the MB only to eventually blame the MB but as you'll know dismantling a system is very time consuming and to be avoided, if possible.

Has anyone heard of this MB or any other MB booting only intermittently and what tends to cause this type of fault?

psu is usaually the first place to look at. That's where I would go.
