hi there,

i have been reading loads of graphic card reviews but none off them to say how well they would perfrom on a 1080p hdtv and they are all tested on monitors. Was looking at playing games such as far cry 2 ,crysis warhead ETC, at the 1080p res. Any help would be awsome.

ps 200.00 is my max budget

thanks again

tONY

looking at the 4850 cards, does the jump form 512mb to 1024mb provide a large perfeomance boost? which of the 4850 series is considerd the best?

thanks again fo any advice

At the moment the peformance gain for the 1GB is minimal, but if you're not the type that upgrades all that much it may be worth investing in as you could search for topics on older cards and see people saying "256MB VRAM is more than enough." etc etc..

Games will move on.

thanks guys much appreciated, i read that 4870's get very hot, would i need to get a graphics card cooler, if so which would you suggest? also would a 4870 fit on the board i have (Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H) sorry for all the questions, recentley built my first pc so this is all a bit new to me.

thanks again tony

it will be fine
its not to much of a problem unless you have it overclocked/overclock the rest of your system

if its running at stock then a 4870 1gb will be fine

there seems to be 3 varients of the 4870 1gb model:

Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB,
PowerColor PCS+ HD4870 1024mb
Sapphire HD 4870 1024mb

Which is the best off the three, the powercolor pcs version seems to get the edge in reviews but cant seem to find it to buy online anywhere.

thanks again
