How many people have left PC's for consoles?

I used to be a big PC gamer and got sucked into the upgrading/overclocking cycle. I still use my PC for strategy games and the occasional MMO. But aside from that I now much prefer gaming on consoles.

I own all three consoles and have little desire to upgrade my old AGP system (though I did do a RAM upgrade earlier this year).

Considering you can buy a console that lasts 5 - 8 years for the same price or less than a graphics card that lasts for 1-2 years it's a no brainer to be honest. If you have the money then fine but I got sick of upgrading and spending huge amount of money buying upgrades:

Buy a new Chip but you also have to buy a compatible motherboard.

By a motherboard but now you have to buy compatible memory.

Buy a new graphics card and have to by a new power supply. The list goes on!!

I have been a pc gamer for years but latley the games have just dried up.

Bought a PS3 and very happy;)

I think all you console players need to get hooked on some MMO games then the console with gather dust (along with rest of life :D )

Get WAR or EVE. Get on Teamspeak and pwn n00bs. Consoles just don't have the same social aspect, we have TS server, forums, msn etc. I am on TS even when not in game.

I do think consoles are catching up, give it another gen or 2.

I still like playing games on my laptop but if something won't run to my satisfaction then I play it on the console instead. The only thing that bugs me is no-one has implemented keyboard and mouse support for the PS3 even though Sony fully support it!

Me, can't be bothered continuously upgrading to components which will have lost 99% of it's value within 25 minutes. I'd rather stick a game in the drive and go rather than messing about with tweaks etc.

Actually, I think most people would say it's PC's that lack the social aspect of an Xbox360 as all games HAVE to support voice communications, which are then organized between group (everyone), sides (red vs blue for example) or squads. You can then private chat with your friends if you want through the dashboard.

Don't need seperate programs from games, don't have to organize and pay for Vent/TS servers and Xbox360 also has Live Messenger with it.

Maybe PC's might catch up with the wonderful all in one solution of Xbox Live, it could do with it. Steam is the closest it has and it still pales in comparison. This is one area where console are years ahead.

would you like me to show you our eve website with forums, loads of tools for the game, killboards that show all kills, items that the victim was using, amount of damage done, by who etc, or what about the live territory map for Eve featuring 1000 of corporations, alliances owning areas of space etc etc.

Why would I want an inferior closed system? you make it sound like it is a good thing, do you also have a mac and an iphone also?

Consoles are yet to fully venture into MMO games and the required features that are needed to support them. PCs had this in the 90s.
and even normal FPS games can't have 32 vs 32 people on a console.

Sorry to break it to you, but what you are playing is inferior, it might be easier and cheaper. But it aint better.

Neither is 'better'.

I was an active Eve Online player and sold my account for £350 when I got a 360.
I've played EQ2, CoH, heck even got my epic weapon in EQ.

I'd argue there's a big difference between social gaming and mmrpging.

What, just because a console cant do MMO which imho are over hyped games churning out tedious gameplay over and over again for £10 a month, very expensive.

32 vs 32 is far to many for a FPS, the maps become bigger and thus you spend more time running about not actually fighting.

I dont see how its inferior, you wouldn't have 32 men special ops running about in real life, so you could say 32 vs 32 is unrealistic.

i suppose i have... i always owned consoles but there was a period where i did some pc gaming as well. theres just no enough out at the moment for pc, not enough to draw me in anyway and plus its so expensive keeping up to date that i just don't bother anymore.

now that online gaming has took off on consoles, i see even less reason to ever get back into pc gaming

Yep same here, I built my last gaming rig with a 6800GT when they where nearly £300. That still sits in all of my builds since buying the 360.

I get the urge every now and then to play AOE2, Commando's 2 and Comand and conq generals.

Me, its far cheaper buying a console every few years than a new pc!! Everything is guaranteed to work properly, only play is awesome, especially XBL. I do miss the KBM combo but easily get used to the pads as I've always used them too, and being on a level playing field with everyone else using pads too its not too bad.

Oh, I see your confusing a games feature through a developers website with a PC.

Games like Halo 3 and Battlefield Bad Company stat track in much the same way.

Why would I want an inferior closed system? you make it sound like it is a good thing, do you also have a mac and an iphone also?
That's the developer, not the PC. It's possible on any system. I have a iBook, PC, all the consoles, and a PDA. Sadly, I don't have an iPhone.

They could, but bar Battlefield I can't think of a single 32 vs 32 game that has benefitted from it. As for MMO, consoles have only fully utilised the Internet this generation, they are coming but the market isn't really screaming out for them.

Wrong.

will prolly never leave the PC for consoles for gaming. Will do both.

Content creation and customizability in games will always be vastly superior on the PC.

Freedom to do your own thing - its accepted and standard on the PC but when it appears on consoles its lauded as the second coming...

The only PC game I play now is Footy Manager, everything else on the 360. Just got to be a real PITA having to update all the time.

i have completly stoped playing games on my pc for the moment, used to just play wow but have completly stoped all of a sudden and now play everything on 360.

achievements have definatly made me want to play more on the 360 mainly because a friend is braging about his gamerscore so im going to pass him to shut him up.
