Some drunk girl who smashed the window of my front door last week (she had the wrong house) is refusing to pay up, I know she'll pay up if I scare her a little so I was wondering if I could write up a letter from an 'attorney' cough me cough and just mail it to her, I'd put some random name on the top like Allen & Son attorneys but was just wondering if this was legal or not?

No mega punch to the ovaries plz as much as i'd like to do this.

no that is not legal

take her to small claims if she won't pay up

you will need reasonable proof it was her and a few quotes for fixing the door

did you report it to the police?

Forearm to the face dude.

Its the only way, and you have arms like "The worlds strongest man gone wild"

Seriously though.. what you mentioned doesn't sound legal.

Doesn't sound totally legal to me, but I bet if you worded it right, it would sound real, but be totally legal.
Don't actually say you are a solicitor/lawyer, but just make it look professional, give it a name that sounds like it could be a solicitors, fancy paper etc.

as far as i'm aware, its legal, but it also means that she can then sue you for not sueing her after saying you will...

Proporting to be a lawyer or that the letter is from a non existent attorney, probably isn't legal and could potentially land you in hot water if this is so. However, I shouldn't think there would be any harm in simply sending a letter addressed from yourself, signed, photocopied and sent recorded mail to her.

Lay out in clear English that since she damaged your property, you would like her to pay for the damage for this. Get a few price quotes from different places. Enclose that with the letter. Explain that you would be happy for this matter to be settled out of court but that legal action will sought if she is unwilling to do so.

Keep it polite and simple. Then if she tells you to go fornicate yourself, you can take her to court and have all the documentation showing that you attempted to resolve the situation amicably.

And yes..... I watch Judge Judy :D

If you know her address then why not jump in your pick-up with some of your boyfriends from the gym and pay her a visit? Isn't that how it's done down South?

Yes perfectly legal, sometimes when I am wronged I actually make a mock up court room and pretend to be a judge. Justice gets served and the actual legal system doesn't have its time wasted by crime.
