I accidentally ordered the 512MB 4850, not realizing a 1024MB was only £10 more.

If I got a 24" dell 1920x1024 would 1024MB make a big difference with todays games? if so, by how much?

I currently use a 1280x1024 screen so that shouldnt even make a 512MB card sweat but I have plans to upgrade.

well id say it make a few frames here and there difference, not much at all.

for 1GB you ideally want a 4870, as it will be used in high res with lots of AA/AF where the 4870 would post playable famerates, unlike the 4850

I sold my 512Mb 4870 and bought the 1Gb model as I was seeing some issues at 1920x1200. With the new card, everything is fine! :D So i'd recommend it.

Its antec so its pretty high quality, power supply is from this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-095-AN

Will the power supply just cut out or something if it cant take it?

Even still... er no :p

If won't take out anything, when you put the system under load, the PC will just restart. There is a risk that prolonged use of pushing the PSu to it's limits could make it blow, and then it might take something with it.

Nope just the plain ol 4850, I plan to play a lot of test drive unlimited with antialiasing turned on, call of duty 4 and other newish games.
