Not being able to face people because you think your ugly

People dont realize it, but the stupid little comments that sound funny take a dig at a persons self confidence. They wont necessarily show it but time after time that all adds up.

What are you talking about?

Won't somebody think of the ginger?!
lovejoy.jpg

That's what I mean.

There is a fine difference between being concerned of what people's remark and joking with witty one liner. In this context, there is an obvious joke but people who lack the sense of the humour will take it a step too far by putting forward what they judge to be right or wrong and what you've done is essentially, "in the name of protecting the red-haired readers of this family forum", people should stop cracking such remarks.

I can understand if someone who is ginger starts saying no, that's not cool. But from a bystander, I find it arrogant.

Post all pics of Mrs. Lovejoy you like but your arguments are still going to be confused and poorly worded.

If having the conviction to call out something as being wrong makes me arrogant, then I'm arrogant. If people like you don't realise that arbitrary prejudice breeds hatred, then you're stupid.

Also, if you're going to quote someone in future, ensure you actually quote what they've said.

It's only wrong in your eyes... from someone else's perspective.
Let the gingers worry about what they are called, it's not up to you!

I'm ginger. I don't think it's cool. I think it can be really tough for little kids, who don't have the maturity to combat it or defend themselves. And while adults propagate this kind of humour as harmless, kids will use it too. It's not really the words, it's the effect they can have on some people.

Although, 'fanta pants' is exempt for being hilarious.

Maybe its the poor percieved racism thats wrong. Rather than likening some harmless jibe about hair colour as being racist or prejudiced you should see it for what it is?

People mock people. It doesnt always have to be a huge hatred issue. Sometimes its just for a bit of a laugh? I take the **** out of my friends for one reason, they take the **** back for another. No one needs therapy so far.

That's mor eor less what I'm trying to get my point across. Apologies if it's that hard to understand - things I understand in my head don't always convert well into word for others.

See, fair point that you're raising and I do agree with you. Plus, the way you bring that point across is also less hostile than a certain poster who seem to insist on branding my post as moronic and stupid to bring upon his points over mine.

I'm ginger, but I gotta say that one liner nearly made me plaster my screen with frosties! haha.

Very good!

A friend of mine used to be a bit like this- she wouldn't let anyone take photos of her or participate in a group photo and seemed to have a really bad self loathing thing going on. Pity really cos she's a great girl.

Why are people allowed to get away with saying this?
because its funny?

Thats like saying "ban offensive comedy" all the funny comedians would be out of a job, the only ones left would be ones about 0.1% of the population find funny.

It's basically serious self esteem issues, was a bit like it up until the age of about 12, but then again, i was a fat kid :D

You have over 1000 posts, are you honestly surprised anymore at peoples responses?
