Hi,

Does this mobo need a heatsink and fan for the processor?

I have one here for repair and its the first time I've had a system that has no heatsink or fan on the processor.

Regards

All systems need at least a heatsink on the processor.

If youve ran it without youve probably killed it

The arctic cooler would be a good choice

All cpu's will need some sort of heatsink, they will overheat very quickly hopefully there thermal protection should shutdown the cpu.

Reason I ask is the system I have here the owner has never used a heatsink and fan for the last 3 years?

Told him to get one asap.

Regards

No heatsink on the cpu
I'm surprised he even got the thing to run without it shutting down on high temp, unless the the cpu is throttling to about 1mhz which keeps the temp below shutoff
Can you post any pics!

Sorry for my late reply, forgot to respond :) LOL

Anyway, cant remember the PC now but I think I installed a cooler for the system owner, well I think I did!

Thanks and if I had photo's I would have posted them up.

Regards

Update.

I had the system back for a case, power supply and graphics card upgrade and still he's not installed a cooler?

Can anyone recommend one cheap so I can get this up and running again for him.

LOL just caught up with this thread and I still have the PC here a little late on a fix 4 years late to be honest.

The owner has never come back for it.
