Cisco people please

This is probably something simple, but here goes

I've got two cisco routers (2503 and 2504) that are connected back to back by a serial cable and have connectivity.

I want to upgrade the ios on the 2504 but i dont have a token ring network card, i've been looking at this guide:

When i try and set the 2503 as a tftp server, i just get command not retained.

Anyone got any ideas on this?

Perhaps the 2503 IOS doesnt have the TFTP features? Which version is it?

Can you not just copy the IOS image to your pc using a free TFTP server on your pc like Solarwinds, then copy it back on to the 2504 using TFTP again?

Or is this some Lab you are trying to get working?

I need a token nic to connect my pc to the 2504, unless i'm missing something easy

Why dont you just get the token ring nic from the bay.you can get 1 for just £5.50 inc. delivery.

Have your TFTP server installed on PC, set up routing, and upgrade.

This is the way to do it, you could as easy install a DB9 adaptor, [Serial to ethernet] for configuration via console port and as oddjob said tft server on main pc. Jobs a guddin.

Shouldn't have to do much, just make sure the default route on the 2504 points to the 2503, and make sure you add a route on the PC for the serial network
