Considering a move to an Enta reseller (from Pipex). Not decided upon which one yet.

Want to know how the Enta packages fair in the evening when everyone starts downloading? I'm only interested in game pings and delays with browsing and mail server, and I imagine they will all suffer come off-peak times when the network gets hammered.

Considering Enta to get away from traffic shaping, to see if online experience improves.

Ideally looking for £20 or less, and local exchange limited to ADSL Max (8Mb) only. Normally get higher downstream connection speed than shown in picture.

I'm with ADSL24 on their 30/300GB package. I've been with them for around 12 months and they've been brilliant.
Pings/response times are not effected in the evenings, gaming has been a pleasure since moving from BT to ADSL24.

Im also on ADSL24 and apart from local exchange blips its been full speed and low, stable pings. If you find your speed is decreasing enta have a status page as well as adsl24 detailling each pipes usage and state which is pretty handy too

With ADSL24 email system it mentions unlimited email accounts.

Are they unique mail boxes that can be deleted, or is it all done by word before @User Name?

Prefer mailboxes so at least it bounces spam.

Entanet are the best isp to have on any BT ADSL_MAX line.

No, they're probably the best value but not the best regardless. Zen Office would be a better option if cost were no issue, and personally I'd stick with my free completely unlimited in every way broadband from work over anything else available today.

BigRedShark is right, by no means are they the best, they are just simply the best value, offering the best service, support and allowance compromise for the least cash.

Wow, your attenuation is almost as good as mine, you must be pretty close to the exchance. You should be syncing at 8128, though. Do you have interleaving on?

Anyway, take a look at http://www.entachoice.org.uk/central-checker/, shows you speed performance on each central during the evening busy periods.

Whilst the download speed may go down, latency shouldn't go up, that's why they have ALT (Anti-Loss Tool), restricting speeds when they are above capacity. Which means, it should be perfect for gaming. This said, I make a point of staying on Central 1, and I always get full speed. (I averaged ~780K/s on usenet on a 7000 profile, might be more now I'm at 7150)

I get 13ms to bbc.co.uk.

Looks like contract with Pipex lasts until December/January.

Pinging the BBC gave an average of 41ms.

Router is sync at 7968 kbps and been on for over 7 hours.

Have run the BT speedtest and IP profile is set 6500 kbps. Acutal IP throughput achieved was 4166 kbps

No idea if interleave is on.

Looking at your sync, and Ping, I'd say interleaving is almost certainly on.

ASDL24 will give you the option of turning it off.

BT Decided I needed interleaving, when I live next to my exchange, it was promptly turned off, had no problems.

With interleaving off I get 25ms to jolt.co.uk

Down Up
Rate (Kbps) : 8128 832
SNR Margin (dB) : 7.5 12.0
Attenuation (dB) : 28.0 15.0

Been solid for over 30days connected uptime with those stats.

ADSL24 have been near perfect me until lately. Tonight I have been unable to play online with upto 200ms pings and downloads dropping from my usual 800k to 300k.

5 of the 6 centrals have been hammered since late afternoon and 3 of them are limited to 4mb.

They are solid most week days/evenings but as adsl2+ is rolling out the bandwidth is getting soaked up pretty fast.

ADSL2 has nothing to do with the old centrals, actually if the ADSL2 roll out had gone as hoped us on adsl should have seen improvements as there would have been less users on the old centrals.

We just have to hope the new centrals will go online soon as it's just a bit crowded on the current ones and maybe BT can their ADSL2 roll out working as well.

totally agreed - big gamer and ADSL24 are superb, low pings etc etc

now now adsl24 isnt the only entanet reseller even though im with them. UKFSN, Titanadsl, aquiss

Finding a complete list of the resellers would be handy. I tried looking for one some months back and was surprised Enta didn't provide a list at the time.

Always see the same names mentioned. Most be frustrating for the lesser know resellers.
