Right, ive been trying to find the answer out to this myself but dont seem to be getting anywhere.

It appears all of my channels are being broadcast widescreen with what I believe is called pan and scan of a 4:3 ratio. This means if Stargate happens to be on im actually watching targat..

Is there something im supposed to do with regards to this? Ive read that since the digital revolution broadcasters are changing their source formats to widescreen, which is great.. but what i'm getting isnt that. Across the house we use Sky, Freeview and Analogue.. and while I havnt tested extensively I know this is happening and its quite annoying.

Fill me in o'wizards of the electrical home cinema world.

At home I see analogue in old 4:3 and digital terrestrial is in a wider format, but perhaps not quite as much as 16:9 :)

Is it happening on all your sets?

What screens are affected and what are the inputs (sky, etc) that are effected?

Is it the same when you watch a DVD or video?

Have you set all your devices to output in 16:9 and your tv too.

Nope, I hadnt. Cheers for the input guys, I knew something was amiss but I didnt even know you had to change the input on the sky box. Ive been at uni for 3 years so it hasnt really affected me, but my parents are going to love this. They keep watching everything in 4:3, thus the massive black bars either side. Finally, the screen fills the tele properly.

It appears the Freeview is being picked up as widescreen properly.

Analogue is not a worry. Its not quite right, but i imagine you cant change that input considering its just floating about in the air.. :D
