As title really, what is the best phone for this function?

Basically I need a new phone and need sat-nav in my car so it would be a great cost-saving if the phone could perform this function adequately.

I'm pretty ignorant about latest mobiles, only 2 I know are the iPhone and N95 which both seem good to me.

The Sony C702 can do it. I think the W660 (or maybe 760) can too.

There's a couple of Nokia's do it as well, the 6220 I think.

Good Sat Nav devices:
WM devices:
HTC Touch Pro
HTC Touch Diamon
HTC TyTN II
HTC Touch Cruise
Samsung i900 Omnia
Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
These are all large touch screen Windows Mobile devices that will run TomTom (the HTC ones come with a free copy and maps for 1 city).

Symbian:
Nokia 6220
Nokia 6210 Navigator
Nokia N96
Nokia N79
Nokia N85
Nokia E71
Nokia E90
All of these are Symbian devices (more phone like) and are non touch screen. Getting TomTom to run on them can be done, if a little tricky. But they also support Nokia Maps, which is actually quite good. Most recent devices come with a 3 month navigation trial licence too.

Avoid the N95 as the GPS receiver is is pretty poor, the iPhone doesn't have a proper sat nav app, just google maps, which is rubbish for sat nat TBH.

Thanks for the replies!

Do most just cover one city? I need it to cover most of the UK as I'm moving from Glasgow to Cornwall shortly and it's mainly for that trip and then finding my way around Cornwall.

They'll cover whatever maps you give them, which can be the whole of the UK and Europe if you like.

Personally i'm waiting for the Nokia Tube (5800) as it should be a pretty good touch screen symbian capable of running TomTom well :)

It's not great no, i just said it was fine which I meant to mean fine for the odd journey. I use my tomtom one when i can
