Can anybody recommend a good holesaw for cutting holes in my case? These will be inside the case and used for routing wires rather than fans so needs to be big enough for the power lead to get through!
Will all of the above get through metal or do I need a certain one from that page? I don't want to buy a wood one and find it blunts before it's got through!!
They will do wood too but you have to go slow or the wood catches fire
ZX is right though thats not normally what you would use on wood. Dont forget to get an arbor.
I went into B&Q today and picked up a holesaw, then I went upto a bloke and asked what i needed to mount it in a normal drill and he showed me this little bit of metal that it screws into then you put it into the front of the drill. Then i bought a pack of 10 25 MM grommets and now i have 3 perfect holes in the top of my pc.
Two for water tubes and one for fan cables
These are exactly what you need
Nah it's solid so just go at the speed you feel comfortable, aslong as you control it faster will cut it neater and dont worry about scratched edges because the plugs will cover it up.
If you need to Edge something bigger than 25mm holes ie large holes for a Rad.
go to a Electrical wholesaler and ask for some black Grommet strips
Or if you want coloured you could try a online motorbike accessory shop and look for screen edging.
It'll also be easier if you drill a hole into your case that'll be the same size as the pilot drill on the holesaw. That way you can plonk yours in and go, you really don't wanna skit around with a big holesaw attached...
If you're using a 57MM holesaw you'll also need the next size up mandrell.
One does 8 - 35 i think and the other 35 to massive. Just check with an employee that knows their stuff before you leave.
Yeh I've just checked the website and found the next size up. Thanks for mentioning it though. I'll have a scout round at dinner for the grommet strips.
I see what you mean about the pilot hole. Best grab myself a decent drill bit as well!!
