I've just discovered that my ATI 2600XT won't do 1920x1080p@60hz. I hadn't realised but the manual states that it's not supported, only 1920x1080i@30 on HD-TV (which I take to mean HDMI).

Is there a passively cooled card out there that will do 1920x1080p@60 through HDMI?

Do only ATI cards have the onboard sound for HDMI?

Why do you want 1080p at 60hz when UK HDTVs are 50hz?

The gigabyte passive 4850 does 1080p at 50Hz and probably all 4xxx and 3xxx ones do as well.

1080p is 24hz or 50hz or 60hz. its better running it at 60hz when gaming ..

Some people play games on their HTPC; most, if not all will watch TV and DVDs which means 50hz is the most important.

Oilyrag

Also having just played with a X1900 it supports 1920*1080p at 60hz and 50hz so I don't see why the x2600 would not. Since the manual is probably US centric where the spell Theatre funny - see helmuts' link - try setting it via the drivers both as a HDTV and also as a 1920*1080 monitor.

How do I do that?
It's auto detected as a TV by CCC.

go into ccc then click in display manager then in the refresh rate box u should see 60hz, if u don't, try upgrading or downgrade your drivers.

also check to see if your tv can do 60hz...

btw your 2600 card can do 1080p @ 60hz

How do I upload a gif here?

The Gigabyte manual says it will do 1920x1080@60, but only over DVI, for "HD-TV" it only goes to 1920x1080i@30.

I can set 1920x1080@60 (or 50) in windows monitor setting, but I get a blue screen displayed at anything above 1080i@30.
