Wow account - hacked :(

Contact a blizzard Gm. I know people this has happened too, they willfix it.

As for others that are saying the game is terrible, or that it isn't real stuff. It takes HOURS or hundred hours in some cases to get epic / best geared characters. Wouldn't you be a little angry that someone has nuked all your hard work?

Finally, if you DONT have something helpful to say, WHY POST? Comments like "terrible game" are what? post count plus one? I really don't understand why people constantly rag on a game/console/graphics card they don't like... it isn't like they play it. He isn't asking for opinions on if the game is good, he is asking for help.

Thanks mate, im just waiting on seeing what blizzard do, they are investigating. If i dont get my stuff back though i wont be playing anymore. Checked this morning, they even stole my daughters gold on another server, she had levelled to about 55 solo and had about 150g of her own.

GM's usually are helpful, though I wouldn't tell them that you are sharing an account, it is against their terms of use.

If possible when contacting them, tell them as much stuff that your character was using as possible, and also tell them any enchants that you possibly had too. It is the best way to ensure that that are quicker at restoring it.

Blizzard can restore deleted toons, I know people that sold all their stuff, gave away all their gold, deleted what they couldn't sell, then deleted their account. 6 Months later they are back :p One thing I will say about blizzard, they keep tons of backups of stuff.

The other day master looter gave the wrong item to someone (in the middle of a trash wave so he was a bit in a rush) so the guy he gave it to contacted a GM and it was fixed.

I hate the way people use the word "Hacked" to basically cover "unauthorised access" - there is a big difference.

If it was possible to hack a WOW account why do you think they stopped at your account?
If a hack actually exists then it will be all or nothing to the "hackers" and they will have access to all accounts and would be moving through them from the account called "A" through to "Zzzzzzzzzzzz".
This however isn't happening and only one account has been compromised.
Even if we assume that every single person who says their account has been "hacked" we are still talking an extremely small percentage - this once again indicates that there is no hacking going on.

So it really leaves only a few options:

1. Your account details have become compromised - either somebody else knows them and has used them. You have a keylogger on your machine or similar. You've been phished. Somebody has guessed your username/password combination.

2. It is an inside job - somebody at Blizzard has done it.

That really is about it.
It's the same when we see "My Paypal account" or "My EBay account" has been hacked or "My MSN account....."
If it was possible to hack then a lot more accounts would be being attacked.

Always a pretty bad experience getting your account nabbed.

Had quite a few guildies back in the day get done over, and it takes ages to sort out (understandable though given how much Blizzard have to deal with).

Hope it all goes well and you get your stuff back. You won't get the gold though.

I know this, i dont see any reason in not using the word hacked, as it adequately describes someone accessing my account by whatever means.

As for the sharing account in the post above this, its not a shared account as such, my daughter plays it from my pc, so its only a single install, just two people play on the same game, according to my daughter she has never given my details out, but with kids, i guess you never know.

Not sure myself, I don't play it - was just speculating. I'd assume getting power-levelled would need someone to have access to your account, but buying gold I don't suppose would. *shrug*

The obvious answers is a keylogger of some kind, which would cause me to worry more about just a WoW account.... :(

Yeh power levelling would.

Ive had a request for password change 3 times this morning in my email inbox, despite not requesting a single change. (since it happened). This is starting to be very frustrating now.

Just treat it as a sign from god to stop wasting your life on it.

Sorry, whats the difference between me playing WOW for 5 or 6 hours a week to you playing your XBOX a huge amount?

Why dont you stop wasting your life playing on your xbox? Or wasting your life trolling internet forums.

haha i agree with that :D

dont see why people see WoW as a sink hole :s
even when full time raiding theres time to do loads !

sad to see yo ugot hacked, had this happen to my friend not long back. he managed to get all hsi stuff back after a few weeks. ended up being a key logger. his AV didnt flag this up either. the only thign you might not get back is the gold, but im sure the gear is more important tbh... just make sure you have your CD Keys for WoW and TBC and proof of ID that you can scan/fax to them :)

me and my friend share an account between us, and recently emailed me to say that it had been compramised. i had to email them with a bunch of details etc. so blizzard do monitor these things. they should be able to trace where it came from etc.

all the best

Yeah you should get it all back, it just may take a little time, but I would think it will be sorted in time for WotLK.

I’ve known a few people this has happened to and they’ve got it back eventually, although when one of our officers got hacked we didn’t get back what was taken from the guild bank, but that’s fair enough really! :)

A blizzard authenticator definitely sounds like a good plan going forward, I’m pretty confident nobody will be able to access my account but I might get one any way, would make WoW more secure than my online bank account…
