The police + no insurance = how annoying!

Now I know someone who's got no insurance + tax. He received a letter off council + dvla to keep car off road, so he puts it on a drive.

However every night he goes out at ~7pm but yet the police don't want to know as they have to catch him in the act (I suggested park at end of road for 20 mins one night but that got a literal LOL). The dvla say (for the whole no tax) they don't have anyone in the area at that time to catch him and if hes saying its off road they cant do anything!

Its really annoying I was getting tax on the day it ran out (yes i know I shouldn't have but I screwed up) and got done at a checkpoint, fair enough but just annoying hes been doing this for ~2 months ffs!

Is there anything else I can do or just give up?

you could report him to police/dvla i suppose?

Skim read much? :p

It's annoying. I was trying to report a girl for driving with no license. Were the police bothered? Were they balls! The police station is only like 2miles from my work as well (where the girl was driving to and from).

just leave him and stop poking your nose in

he will get whats coming to him eventually and then you can stand back and laugh .....

crash into him. Thats if your car is just a thing to travel in and not a toy. That way the police are involved if they like it or not. Just a bump will do, then call the police saying youve been in a RTA and the other driver is refusing to exchange insurance details.

But just leave it and get on with your life. The law is just bad luck for most of us and isnt fair anyway so leave it be.

The annoying thing is that they'd probably flag his numberplate, but he doesn't drive enough so there isn't much of a chance he'll be caught.

or he will run some one over, disable them - but the injuried party won't get the payout they deserve because he isn't insured.

You've done all you can. Only other step would be to write to your local council and complain. Might get the plod round for a night or two.

Just hope he doesn't hit your car/house.

I Hope not , scum like this will allways be around the corner and me being a tell tale twit isnt going to do a lot to solve it apart from perhaps getting that one person landed with a fine oh and then receiving a brick through my front window.

Im not having a go at the opening poster, sorry if it came across that way i just stay out of this kind of crap ! Allways ends up being a lot more trouble than its worth. It allready shows the local plod are far more concerned with trying to catch my grandma doing 34 in a 30 :)

Send the police photographic evidence and see if that moves them to act.

Would have to get him driving the car, thus letting him know who reported him. Plus, they wouldnt be able to prove he didnt have insurance when the photo was taken.

My advice to the OP, find a PCSO, not only will they take it seriously, but they will input the information to the people who will act on it.

I'm surprised the police are not more interested.
I shopped somebody from the village where I used to live for no tax and no insurance and they were caught less than a week later.
Could have been coincidence I guess.
Most traffic police hate people without insurance too - so they love catching them, especially as they can seize the vehicle.

Ahh good idea will stop at local shop and get his direct number off the board, and I think I'll leave it at that.

Cheers everyone

I understand that the guy could hit someone in a car etc..

but i really wouldnt be going out of my way to snitch someone up myself.

I don't know, It's one thing quickly taking a sip of the pint the old bar lady just poured and then saying "oh hey margret, wtf do you call this? Don't make me come round there" but no insurance is not on, it's like... well, I can't use that example, but it's wrong.

Dunno how else you can get it sorted though. Maybe call again and say "so you won't do anything? Right I'm just going over there to stab him till it really hurts" and put the phone down.
