here is my current system

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600
ATI 4870 X2
SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX
Abit IP35
Corsair HX 620W Psu
120gig Maxtor SATA
300gig Maxtor SATA

yesterday i upgraded my graphics card to the 4870x2 and a lot of people have said that my processor is holding it back at stock speeds, last time i tried to overclock my cpu i got it to 3gig but i was getting bsod when i tried to encode movies so i set it back to normal speed and the problem went away

back then i didnt really need the extra speed but some people told me it might be because of my memory, could anyone tell me the exact settings i would need to change to overclock? :)

thanks, i dont know how i didnt notice them so sorry about that, i clocked it to 3.3gig and the temps seem fine, i wasnt quite sure about the ram timings tho but everything seems to be running fine and its put my rams rating in vista up from 5.7 to 5.9

i noticed that the settings i had it on were not right as the memory is supposed to run at 1.9v but it had been auto set to something lower

I dont understand why you would say your 2.4Ghz Q6600 would "hold it back".. what is it holding back? for games your not going to see an improvement by overclocking the CPU as games use RAM and GFX now not the CPU so much? I overclocked my Q6600 from 2.4 to 3.3 and got a massive 0.1 frames per second increase in Crysis benchmark,

TBH your not going to ever get developer level frame rates in games on a PC without investing on developer level hardware which is pointless unless your bill gats rich or a developer.

well i have actually noticed a bit of an improvement and my temps have been the same so i guess its worth it ;)

im still a bit worried that i might have done something wrong, do these screens look ok?
