No idea why (may have something to do with recently getting the soundtracks), but I wanted to know what everyone thinks?

MGS2, 3 and 4 - which had the...

Best levels & gameplay - 4

Best cutscenes - 4

Best soundtrack - 3

Best voice acting - 4

Best boss battles - 4

Best plot - 3

Best cast of characters - 4

Best mullet of Snake - 4

:D

4 is sublime in almost every way. It loses out on musical score because it doesnt have the true theme.. nonetheless.. its awesome.

Pretty much the same as Jumpurs, Apart from I prefer the boss Battle in Snake Eater.

Metal Gear Solid will always be favorable, because the original was outstanding. It was the first game that really created the whole stealth aspect of gameplay and it was so cinematic.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is probably one of the games I anticipated more than any other, as the videos and hype leading up it and the launch of the PS2 were huge. It did bring in better graphics and a new control system, but looking back on it now, I feel it is the weaker of the four games. It was also annoying playing as Raiden and the Big Shell was kind of boring.

Metal Gear Solid 3 - Didn't get to play this until last year and it was sublime.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Easily the superior game in every way. However, I have played it through a number of times now, and it's then that you start to realize that despite it being such a big game, it's actually not. I think once you get past the first two stages, the game doesn't have so many stealth em up stages. Where as Metal Gear Solid 3 had much more.

3 is the best one by miles. The controls may be archaic now but the game generally has much better story, characters, music, set pieces and locales than MGS2 and 4. The ending makes the rest of the series look amateurish and MGS4 didn't do it enough service. The boss battles in 3 were pretty epic too. Especially with The End, that felt like a true sniper battle in the jungle.

Yeh I wanted more corridor stealth in MGS4. I was over the moon on the first stage of the last level :D

Also, MGS1 remake is a nono... unless the ONLY thing they update is the graphics.

What I REALLY want to see though is the games being rendered in a Yoji-Shinkawa style art

When MGS1 came out it totally blew my mind. I hadn't seen anything like it before. The story, the gameplay, the maps - everything about it really excited me.

That was ten years ago. I haven't played it since (apart from the bit in MGS4). I don't know if I still feel the same way about it without having another go.

MGS4 was awesome, especially the return to Shadow Moses but it was heavy on the FMVs and by then the wow factor of a proper tactical espionage game had worn off.

2 and 3, whilst excellent games in their own right, still don't give me the buzz I got from playing 1 and 4.

Nah, It needs more than the graphics... For instance, Twin Snake on the gamecube. The AI is stupid, It's been upgraded with the MGS2 engine, But the ai can't for example see you running below them. And you can shoot them from lower floors\upper floors without too much trouble.

It needs an overhaul in all aspects. I'd even be happy if they changed some of the gameplay too. MGS is a classic, No harm in bringing the classic back with some awesome changes to please.

A pro mode would be great too, I always say this of remakes. Where it's like European Extreme on Steroids :D

MGS 1 all the way, easily the best in the series IMO.

4 is a weird game because I find it so amazing yet so crap at the same time. The fact that I've still not bothered to finish it since release tells its own story :o

It's ok, you can keep that poll up. But I originally just wanted everyone to post their response to

Ahh, I see. You wrote "Poll" in the thread title so I assumed you wanted a poll added. I'll leave the poll as it is then.

MGS1 was by far the best, infact all the games kept me entertained start to finish (even gay boy Raiden) except 4, bored me, I didn't like it at all.
