FARCRY 2 --- Officially , official of official threads! ---

This game should be called Boiling Point: Road To Hell 2 rather than Farcry2. It has all the absymal coding and development decisions of the BP:RTH and even looks somewhat similar - slightly plasticine and cartoonish. What good is 50 square km of space if "free roaming" if you can't free roam it outside predefined paths. What good is lengthy single player campaign if it's lengthy only because you have to do repetitive missions one at the time, going through the same, self repopulating areas. What good is the whole friend or foe system if it's actually not clear what side you are on and what's your purpose in general. If you took one map in Stalker, stretched it to the max, put unlimited respawns at all enemy points and then made all missions available only after finishing previous one it would probably still give you more "free roaming" than FarCry2.

And wtf is it with that weird mouse movement - fast horizontal, slow vertical, it's like playing flash game though VNC.

Now, can someone please escort head developer to the door. Just throw him out into that rioting crowd outside...

i'm thoroughly enjoying it right now, although i've just had to quit as there are a lot of gfx problems (probably need to update my drivers). I think it's quite immersive, but possibly a bit too late? Considering the look of Crysis/Fallout 3...

I bin playing on xp 32bit fps around 30-40 some times low as 25 on my 4850
Thats high settings shadows on medium x2 AA 1440/900 res

Just thinking would be worth dual booting vista 32/64 to see if i get dx10 fps boost i bin reading about ?

I only got 2 gig ram :(

I'm getting TONS of artifacts the depper i get in game, ive now racked up 6 hours gameplay and my pc crashes pretty much every 10 mins now with this game....

no other game gives me artifacts, nothing in ati tool, sli doesnt work (even with the beta drivers), its driving me to insanity...

the story, its just go collect missions... non stop. Ive done all the gun missions i can, now im starting on friends and main ones... all the same, go to a camp, blow it up, collect or blow something up and return...

whats the bug with widescreen? maybe thats causing the artifacts.

Anyone else having issues with a black screen ingame? Having to run the game windowed due to the menu lag when fullscreen but i'm finding it impossible to play because the screen ingame is black. Thats it, after a while a white blob appears in the top right corner of my monitor and expands out further onto the screen, eventually becoming pixellated.

Specs are:
Phenom x4 @ 2.4ghz
4850 512mb
4gb ram
600w supply
1440x900 res (19" ws)

Nothing overclocked. Drivers up to date, latest version of dx installed. Really want to play this but cant :/

Not played yet but from the screenies posted, looks like the weapon textures need some work. The modders will sort that out. Considering that the guns are in your field of view most of the time, the developers should have paid more attention to detail. Regarding comparisons to Crysis, I thought that the whole graphics thing with that was overrated. Even on the highest settings, internal textures were bland. It looked nice but certainly does not deserve the adulation it receives.

I've had trouble with AA on my 2900xt stopping any alpha material from showing right. Turn off AA if you're having trouble.

Im all at max details and it runs great apart from... i've fixed his car and it doesnt give me my next mission :(

So many things to moan about, but so little time.

If i choose DX9 i can pick loads of resolutions. If i choose dx10, loads of them are missing. I'm left with 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1920x1080. I want to run it at 1280x720 DX10 but I can't. I can choose it in the benchmark and it runs and looks exactly like I want it to, but not in the game. This really annoyed me.

The menu mouse movement is soooooooooooooo slow.

The voice acting is apalling.

The graphics aren't great. Everything looks sort of flat and lifeless. To me, Half Life 2 looks better than this.

Even though i get between 30-50fps it still stutters a lot.

The enemies all have telescopic, x-ray and infrared vision and they can see you from miles away. Your bullets are made from cardboard and seem to bounce off most of the enemies.

The story is boring. Go here, do something, come back etc etc. That's really about it.

Until i installed the latest hotfix drivers, all the colours were wrong. Big red mountains, green sand etc.

There are many more things but i can't be bothered to list them. I've uninstalled it and will give it to a mate if any of them want it.

This game is really awful, like the guy above said. Half life 2 maxed out with full AA and AF looks and runs so much better than this.

The mouse movement suffers the same as bioshock did, in that it feels slighty laggy and slow. As far as shooting goes it ranks as one of the worst I have played the aiming and the guns look and feel clunky.

Utterly dissapointing and a disgrace to the Far Cry name.

Edit: I figured it out, this game is basically Conflict Denied Ops on a bigger budget.

I had this bug. I found it was because I had remapped the buttons so that "open map" was a different key, and I think it requires you to press the default key there - I reset to default and all works fine now, but bl;oody annoying!

My benchmark, just ran the game:

1920x1200
All Settings Ultra High
8x Anti Aliasing
DirectX 10

Average Framerate: 41.57
Max. Framerate: 57.78
Min. Framerate: 31.05

With is without the 180.41 "Far Cry" driver installed.

I've not played the actual game much, menus are wierd.
