Hi All,

I've got an ericsson K850i (terrible decision, don't get one) and I've noticed that its started making funny noises when I leave it to charge over night. While its charging it makes a noise like a really distant car alarm, or what I can only describe as like a UFO hovering over your head. When I unplug it, it makes a noise like a bomb about to explode - I literally hide behind my bed in case it blows up!

When I look at the battery afterwards its never up to 100%, the phone is only 8 months old...

Anyone know what the cause might be?

Cheers!

Are you one of those very few people who have gone through 5 phones because they keep breaking or something? (it seems you either love the phone and haven't had it break or hate it and have had it break foour or five times...)

As for the noise if it is making that it may be worth sending it back and getting it repaired, should be free as it's still under warranty.

It's just a plain crap phone, I had 5 turn themselves into paperweights before I saw the light and insisted was given a more reliable phone by O2. When they work they are exceptional phones, when they are not . . . Hmmph!

Its under guarantee so take it back and get a new one.

Bingo :D

As I said before there only seems to be people who have never head a problem with the phone (the vast majority) and a small number of people who say they have had four or five phones break. That to me indicates not a problem with the phone but a problem with the user. ;)

(Broadly the same with any phone)

I never had a problem with it until a few months ago really, when it started switching itself off at random times (including during phone calls) after which it won't switch back on until its good and ready it seems.

Thats really the only problem I've had apart from the fact that its always taken a painfully long time to take photos, I've never known a phone to be so slow!

If you mean it's slow to save a snapshot it's because it's saving a 5mp image file to slow flash memory. Your previous phone may have been 2mp or something and would have been saving a much, much smaller file.

EDIT - my K850i is currently borked as well, and waiting for me to send it back to the manufacturer since Vodafone are being total ******* about giving me a repair.

Mine was fine taking photo's but for no reason at all and sitting on the desk next to me it would just re-start then freeze, then the blue ring of death. That happened to the last 4 I had, the first one used to fart while charging like the OP's. O2 kept telling me they were common faults and replaced it with the N95 in the end . . . Hate that though, so use my old trusty K800i now.

SE aren't really known for their reliability to be fair!

//Edit: Actually i take that back, what i meant was the K series aren't known for their reliability.

Thankfully I've never had the blue ring of death *frantically tries to find some wood to touch* but when it switches itself off I really do despair. Very annoying when you see that you have a text and the phone decides it doesn't want you to read it just yet...

I think I've decided that the funny noises are the battery over heating?? But at the same time, after a few hours charging, the battery is never fully charged...
