Do most people have overbites?

No thats 'Jut-Jaw' when the bottom protrudes further than the top... Will Young, Jummy Hill etc...

Most people have an overbite of some sorts... just some more pronounced than others (Goofey Teeth!!)

Overbite is normal, but less attractive when it reaches Simpsons-esque proportions.

Underbite is more unusual, but happens. One of my friends had extensive braces and corrective surgery to fix his underbite - I gather it wasn't best for eating.

My bottom teeth touch my top teeth and go behind them when I bite. My dentist said my bite was 'perfect'. So I don't think that is what overbite is...

Afaik, someone who has 'perfect' teeth will have an overbite. I think it's how they're meant to be. It doesn't mean that there's a massive overhang from the top teeth over the bottom ones.

Your back teeth are supposed to 'fit' into eachother with your forward top teeth coming over your forward bottom teeth.

I thought an overbite was where for some reason the top front teeth hung slightly in frot of the bottom lip, so when your mouth is closed you can still see the teeth?

I had an underbite - 10 years of orthodontic treatment and a 10 hour surgery, and I now have an overbite + perfect teeth :). However I have also lost 90% of feeling between my lower lip and chin. It's an unfortunate side effect of having to move the nerves in the mouth to cut the bone.

Underbite wasn't pleasant to live with. Couldn't open my mouth very wide without locking my jaw which was painful, and excessive chewing would also result in my jaw locking. If I had to choose again I'd still go through with the surgery knowing the side effects :)

Back in the day when I had my braces - I noticed I was getting a slight overbite.

The dentist said its perfectly normal and something we implement during having a brace to make sure you have less chance of having problems with your teeth in the future. Also feels a lot more comfy too aparently. :)
