Hi, just bilt a new pc witha hd 4870 x2 g/card all built up no prob then we you start it up the screen dosen't work i.e no image is shown have tried 2 different monitors and different socket types and no different!, it's got a 750w pc power power supply, dfi lan party dk mobo everything else seems to boot up, the hd is working everything works apart from the gcard, the fan works on it but no image!, is the graphic card faulty? Any Idea?

the pc does a small beep on start up, another thing is the mobo has a little lcd display which counts up too 75 then after 2 secounds changes to 7f is this a sort of fault code? or is that normal, also would it help if a install tge fdd power connector on the mobo which goes nxt to the gcard would this give it the extra boost needed?

It's a post code error. 7f is a checksum error, you normally get this after loading the default bios settings. There are 4 possible causes,

1: Checksum error (changed or added devices)
2: After clearing the Cmos
3: Onboard battery is dead
4: Overclocking issue

So before powering this new build up, did you clear the Cmos ?

Remove the battery for 10 mins or move the jumper accross on the board then back again. This should be in your manual.

How much do you want to bet?

I would'nt want to take any money off you either. But you are wrong and even more so when the op has DFI DK mobo. Just think about your statement for a min, if that was the case, every time we unplugged our rig from the mains it would clear the Cmos. No of course it won't, so don't post rubbish like that in the guise of help for someone that has a problem :(

unplugging from the mains and re-seating your atx power connection is NOT the same thing. Dont be harsh.

No, they are not the same thing. But by the same token, niether of them will clear the Cmos either.

well i stand corrected but last week when i adjusted my mem timings too low and could not boot i tried rebooting / unplugging the mains etc nothing worked. so i replugged the atx power and indeed, it reset the settings for me.. so thats why i mentioned it.
