I haven't decided yet whether to get season 2 on R1 or R2, (I have the first season as R2 single but I think the OVA is R1) ... at the moment it depends on what the R2 release schedule is going to be, e.g. singles or half series boxsets, (like R1?).

Ok, rant time ... watched Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-Chan the other night on the new R1 release. Now I have seen the series before (;)) and I have no problem with the content ... my issue is the quality of the release. Image quality is pretty poor in the episodes and the menu's look absolutely awful. In fact there is even an error in the trailers menu on the second disk where the first trailers picture is the same as, and correct for, the fourth trailer ... don't these people quality control their products?!? ... in fact speaking of quality control the transparent outer layer of the DVD case hasn't been trimmed correctly on the back long edge and I have two copies of the second DVD (along with one copy of the first one).
 
I started Azumanga Daioh yesterday, after my friend recommended it 100 times. It's very strange, but absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing when Ayumu managed to break the chopsticks evenly and started showing everyone in episode 2.

Azumanga Daioh is an absolute classic :D. I think my favourite character is Yomi (Koyomi Mizuhara) for her dry wit. I have it both on R1 and R2 and I have the manga omnibus. The only issue is that the ADV translation is a bit too americanised for me, (particularly the manga) ... they did a good job with the Yotsuba&! manga though by the same author (but just need to release volumes beyond 5).
 
Good news via ANN this morning, news on ADV, they will be distributing Anime licensed by Sentai Filmworks ... titles include:

- Indian Summer 10/03/09
- Mahoromatic 13/01/09
- Mahoromatic: Something more beautiful 17/02/09
- Tsukehime 20/01/09
- Pet Shop of Horrors
- Jewel Bem Hunter Lime

and, of course, Clannad, to be released over 6 DVDs starting 21st April 2009.

I have the original Geneon boxsets for Mahoromatic(*) and Tsukehime which are both reasonably good series.

(*) I can't remember off hand if this included both series or not?

edit: checked my Mahoromatic .. it is both series and a cd so I won't need to get that.

I just wish that they had translated the jokes a bit better,the`cough`version translates the jokes and explains them whereas the dvd`legal`version misses the point on quite a few episodes,even saying that it is a favorite series of mine too:D

As Werewolf says ... has all the hallmarks of a dodgy release ... especially as it's also not licensed for R1 which makes any English subbed release, even if it doesn't meet the above criteria, suspect.

As you say though it is a nice series, and the manga is pretty good too.

Having a look through my anime at the moment as I'm considering getting rid of a few things.

edit: wow the number of dodgy series sets on that site is worse than the 'bay .... didn't think that would be possible

On the bad news front it looks like Emma season 2 has been delayed a couple of weeks .... but as it appears to be a shipping issue that shouldn't be to much of an issue ...

Some new release from Funimation penciled in for January look good ... Ouran boxset 2, Nanoha A boxset and Baccano amongst others.

Sekirei but make sure its the uncensored version - no this is not hentai.

although it really depends on what you mean by scantily clad as most female heroines seem to fit this description, its the japanese ok :rolleyes:.
 
Hmmm .... Girls Bravo can be nice ;) at times or the Negima!? OVA at the baths (not sure which one but they both come on the same DVD). Other than that drawing a bit of a mental blank at the moment.

Of course I you are willing to read instead of watch then the manga of Ai Yori Aoshi is a lot more :eek::p than the anime (which is pretty much PG)

Had a mixed Anime day today ... Black Lagoon Second Barrage Vol #3 ... no spoilers but it was very good. Followed that by Ouran Host Club set #1 ... very funny series so far. Then this evening started watching My HiME whcih seems interesting.

Btw anyone know any really good films when manga films used to be done. Similar to urotsukidoji quality as in epic and i really liked the high detailed animation and darkness of the film (ignore the rape stuff and all that) just want the same quality stuff. Only thing i ever found that was near it was devilman and not as good but guyver series. So any manga films that are on par with urotosukidojis animation quality?

I think i did ask this before in this thread but i dont recall ever getting a answer maybe no one likes to admit they like urotsukidoji lol which yeah is perverted and all but it has a wicked animation design to it and good voice acting and awesome story telling.

Btw can ppl list some of there fav anime/manga movies as i have mostly series and need some decent quality movies.
