Now i think we've all had a go at Fox, and others for their sometimes outspoken views on other peoples motors. But the truth of the matter is, its what keeps this forum interesting.

Take this posted over at vectra-c.com for example

NO HOTLINKING

Its a 2.0T SRI, two of us dare to question the massive VXR logo down the side of a non VXR car, and we get a slating for it. My view is, is that A) its got a 2.0 4, so not even the V6 turbo as found in the elite 2) its not a proper replica as its missing all sorts of kit, if you're going to call your car a VXR at least make it look like one

Heres a sample of the replies my negative posts got

Mods are done to the individuals taste and what he wishes or wants the car to be. It might be styling or just fitting in with the hole Vx and Irmscher thing. As for putting a Vxr badge on a non vxr car it his Choice. As for the side graphics again his choice. But i have never seen a vxr with those graphics. So it an one off (Individual choice). I like the styling of the car and must say. Its well looked after and this guys deserves a beter reception, than he got. How would you like it if you posted your car up (pride and joy). Looked after it, spent money on it, and basicly worshiped it to have your hard work slated.

well we will just have to beg to differ..........i my self will never belittle anyones car ...nuff said

So next time somebody has a go for posting negative comments, just think what it would be like if it wasnt

Just a boring procession of

"nice car mate"

"congratulations, lovely car"

etc..

indeed, i'm not allowed to slate peoples junkyard 1.3 base pov. model with stick on tat cars over on coltuk, caused a big hoo ha about it and nearly got banned over it. Nowadays I just die a little inside and keep my mouth shut.

I hear muffin likes Vectra's.

He LOVES them...

As for the actual topic, he's chaved a normal vectra, like people with BMW 316s that Mbadge them or any other car that gets badged up beyond what it is...which is stupid and pointless. He may like it, but he looks like a plank to normal people.

Well, you can go back there and say a big 'IT SUCKS' from me if you like. I know a lot of people do drive round in barried up sheds, and this is little different. It makes even less sense to do it to this type of car to me though.

Oh, and I like your VXR. :)

does anybody else find this ?

that they have to make a conscious decision to change posting style on one make forums ? they all seem to be same and never a bad or negative word is said against anyone

My official join date on OcUK is 2002, but that was when the database was wiped and i was registered before then. I think i must have easily have been on here nearing 10 years. Its hard to switch off i find.

its like that on most single model forums tbh. dare say anything against the grain and its not liked.
same for individual sports as well.

on the almera owners club you will get slated unless you stick to subtle mods, lowering, tints and wheels are about all thats "allowed" on the outside, lol

like this

got comment such as

Oh god it's an abomination

and

Eeeerrrrrrhhh, a little bit of sick just came up!!!!!!!

ok, its bad, but its really not that bad :D

MX5OC is not a fan of MX5's that are modified away from the norm or without proper function/performance.

MX5NUTZ is the place to go for wild body kits and stickers and the like.

Its nice to have both forums for opinions either way.

Nearly got myself banned from Focusowners for slating some chavs modding.

Owners club forums are great for an ego massage.

I got banned for taking the wee out of a 106, but resubbed with an account so I can search. Kind of pointless OCF's at times.

I get the same thing on the BMW forums. Somebody posts a picture of an E39 on ridiculous 20 inch chrome wheels and if you say anything other than 'looks nice' everyone lays into you and reminds you about personal choice.

Sure, personal choice is fine, but whats the point in posting on a forum if you want 100 copies of 'AWESOME M8' in replies?

They think it's a bad choice and want to be reassured that they have made a right choice...which they blatantly haven't, but nobody has the balls to say so. :p

It's one of the things that stops me from signing up to single marque forums to find out about cars, as I know I'd get banned for voicing my true opinion on member's cars. :D

It's ok, it's obviously a cruddy photoshop and will never get done in real life anyway :)

If it ever did, THEN is the time to slate it.

As far as I'm concerened, as soon as anyone posts pics of their car on a public forum then they should expect comments good or bad. Here's what I said when somebody posted this monstrosity over at UJCC:

Where do I start? The bodykit, bonnet and spoiler are ugly and OTT, the wheels sit too far in from the arches and are ugly anyway, the paint job looks hideous, and the number plates are horribly tacky. The whole thing looks like it was dreamed up by a 17-year-old Burburry wearing Chav, and it looks like it belongs in the nearest McDonalds car park along with all the badly modified Corsas and Saxos.

Being a moderator on the forum it could be argued that I was a tad harsh, but come on, look at the thing.

Here's the full thread:

isnt that what yours is? :D

That thing actually looks terrible - the vectra, I thought muffins was bad with the stupid 19s and 4x4 suspension, but real people actually buy these cars? wow.

I have to tone it down on Retro Rides. Negativity of any sort is frowned on there, which surprises me with it being quite diverse. Still enjoy the forum though.

On 205 GTI Drivers you can cause a lot of upset by daring to insinuate that the 309 is better than the 205.
