upgrade advice please

Ok my g/f has a pc with a 2900xt 1gig in it (my old card), now its a fantastic card in my opinion but its starting to BSOd and make funny sounds, im on a bit of a tight budget at the moment and im wondering what i can get, id like to keep it ATI and if possible as good or better as the 2900.

id like to keep it ATI and if possible as good or better as the 2900.

Does she game? I ask because the new 4670 upto a certain res is a capable card & consume less power but for total silence you can find passively-cooled 4650s.
