There's a possibility my current motherboard has had it's final day. All kinds of strange things are happening at the moment. Not booting to continuous BIOS beeps, and various other things I've mentioned HERE. No one seems to be able to help.

So I was wondering, what would be the best replacement motherboard for my current hardware:

  • Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 M/B
  • Corsair TX750W PSU
  • Intel C2D E6600 2.40GHz CPU
  • ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 2048MB GFX
  • OCZ 4GB (4x1GB) PC2-6400C4 Platinum Rev 2 RAM

I would like to overclock my E6600, but after the last week of problems I really don't know if I can be bothered.
Everything seems to have gone wrong :(

Budget?

A P45 or P35 based board would be great (eg- one of the ASUS P5Q range).

best bet would be a Asus P5Q

Ofc if you want to crossfire you would be better of going for a Asus Rampage Formula

depends on budget & future plans tbh

Well ideally I want a nice fast gaming system.

Not sure if I'll ever get round to linking 2 graphics cards tbh. Be handy to keep the option though.

I'm looking to try an overclock to 3.2Ghz comfortably without too much effort. Though after this weeks experience of overclocking I don't know if I'll bother. Absolute nightmare :(

What's the most common combination at the moment for a good CPU / motherboard overclocking combo?

Anyone got anymore advice on which P5Q board in particular would suit my needs?
I could do with getting one ordered this morning if possible.

One that will run my 4 sticks of 1GB memory without a problem.
One that will support my E6600 CPU.
One that could be SLi'd in future if needed.

SLI? Do you mean Crossfire?

You'll need to go for atleast the P5Q Pro if you want Crossfire support.
