Looks like the Dues Ex 3 is going to be more like Invisible Wars than the original Dues Ex. Along with the Auto Heal we now have this comment from a developer of the new game!

In an interview with Edge magazine, published tomorrow, Dugas says the original Deus Ex was “kind of slow”. He added, “There weren’t enough exciting, memorable moments. It was aimed more towards a simulation rather than a game experience.”

Sauce!

there completely missing the point in deus ex. they interpret excitement as guns and blasts, but the dialogue was amazingly exiting. lets face it, games are targeted at kids these days, and complex dialogue/plot is not what thier interested in.

i think the days of 30/40 hour game time have long gone.

edit : obviously there was enough going on in the original game otherwise it wouldn't have been as successful as it has become.

It belongs in the pc hall of legends, no doubt.

It makes me laugh that twice now two teams have thought fit that Deus Ex was good enough for a sequel yet twice they have had no idea what made the first game so good.

Theres just using the name "Deus Ex" as an excuse to make their own game really, anyone would think Deus Ex wasn't even a hit the way both teams have tried to change everything around from the first game.

Hostile17, purely on the basis that I need someone that can talk back to hurl abuse to over this: I HATE YOU, How dare you be the barer of such awful news, what sort of idiots do they have running the project direction!?! Is it entirely unrealistic to think that if we made a big of enough fuss on the developer forums word would get through or even be capable of changing their project pipeline? That final sentence couldn’t have been more soul destroying – there isn’t a single sentence that could sum up a Deus Ex sequel project being lead down the wrong path.

This has genuinely turned what little hope, what naive little hope that this game may have actually been be worthy of the Deus Ex name completely sourer. We can only hope that the entire article show's this to be an out of context remark, otherwise - What an expensive mistake this’ll turn out to be =(

Best we accept it now rather than try and make it work. Why should we live a lie, sometimes you've just got to cut your losses and walk away. We need to give our love to a project truly worth our time and unconditional love.

Dont want to pee anyone off but I thought Deus Ex was boring tbh. I dont get why ppl liked it so much. I only played the first bit and got annoyed with it so trashed it.

Yikes I must say im kinda shocked. (in game terms that is) Deus Ex actually had me on the edge of my seat at times - the suspense was awesome. Deus Ex two? Think I got about two hours into the game before I realised it was rubbish shallow shooter :/

That's like slating the original Unreal for having too much wandering about, or Planescape Torment for having too much dialog. If they want to make another generic shooter, fine, but I wish they wouldn't tarnish the name of such classic games like this.

Sigh, oh noes the first game required forethought and intelligence and patience urgo it was slow, our modern day player base want guns and explosions and pretty graphics.

Moronic :(

the original was more like an interactive book, it was that immersive and thought provoking.

face it , this is a era of a.d.d chemical kids who want blasts and loud noises

People who hoped for a proper sequel were stupid tbh. I'll do the same thing as I should have done with Invisible War. Treat it as a game in its own right and hope to be entertained. Invisible War was a good game, it just wasn't a great game like Deus Ex.

Other franchises have had dips in quality and recovered though for example Rainbow 6 Lockdown was universally bashed by fans as were some editions of Fifa etc. To hope a franchise would recover after a less than impressive entry isn't entirely unprecedented.

Yes but no offense to those franchises but even the best fifa and rainbow six was a fairly standard gaming affair. Deus ex was a pinnacle of gaming that has never been matched since, and I doubt will be matched again in the foreseeable future.

Thats where you failed. Yes it starts off slow very slow in fact..buy my god it gets so much better as you progress through the game!

Hehehe by that i assume you like the r6 vegas titles and dont think they are just as dull an uninspiring as lockdown was... im afriad the r6 series is also ruined with no hope of it going back to its original glory of actually being a clever game and not an on rails shooter (read **** console game)

Well I don't think they are as good as the Rogue Spear / Raven Shield days mate just no where near as bad as Lockdown.

I hope they will get better now Rainbow 6: Vegas is done. Hopefully Rainbow Six 4 will return to its globe trotting antics, and the multi player levels will all be like real world locations again :). If that happens I'll be ready to take you on in multi-player again! :D
