My GF is a complete Japanophile and has been banging on about getting some Idolmaster game for the Xbox 360 for a year or so (she had been hoping a modchip would come out to allow you to play imports on the consoles but no such luck).

Anyway I have decided to get her this game and a Japanese 360 for christmas, but I am wondering if there are any other exclusive japanese 360 games.

She likes RPGs, 'quirky' games, fighting games and can read some japanese and understands spoken japanese a lot better. Any ideas?

I'd check region information on some of the Asian shopping websites before you splash out on a Japanese 360. The majority of games are not actually region locked on 360.

Wouldn't you be better off buying a PS3 instead as all its games are region free and I'm certain there will be more Japan-only titles released on the PS3 rather than the 360.

The game she wants is region locked - I can't afford to buy a ps3, and she doesn't want one (doesn't like sony).

How ironic! Japan-o-phile but doesn't like Sony! What happens if the console goes RROD? Will MS Europe service a Japanese console? It just seems incredibly nuts to me to purchase a console from overseas for just one game!

Have a look here for a complete list of Japanese games: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/games/Japanese/

I've finished all the JRPGs out in the UK (so all but Vesperia) and would easily recommend Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery and at a stretch Enchanted Arms and Eternal Sonata. Tales of Vesperia, which isn't out here until March ish is also supposed to be very good.

Other than rpgs I really enjoyed Beautiful Katamari and would recommend it and if she likes japanese rpg card games Culdcept Saga is supposed to be pretty engaging if a little graphically dated and slow.

Yeah, Tales of Vesperia is a good bet. That's out in the USA right now and the USA version will play on USA and Japanese consoles but not European ones. So, with a Japanese console you can get the USA game imported and play it in English :)

Lost Odyssey is probably the best one out there
Eternal Sonata is ok but a bit of a marmite game

I also add another vote for Tales of Vesperia

If you are bored Blue Dragon and Enchanted Arms are ok but get a bit meh

Its not that she doesn't like Sony, its just she doesn't like playstations any more. They had 3 or 4 broken PS1s and several broken PS2s and thus don't really trust them.

lets hope your 360 doesn't RROD then :P
