Hi all, im looking to jump to 26-27" monitor soon and thus will need a new gfx card.

Will there be any new release in cards around xmas? maybe the next 4970 or something?!?
 
shame :( i hope ati bring something out, im a bit of an ati fan boy after nvidia's constant sub par driver releases, -ve advertising, poor parts a lá NVgate cover up.
 
tbh on the first results in crysis etc. im thinking its just better to stump the extra £50 - £85 for 4870X2 for long term usability

Why? Gddr3 memory don't forget. My pricing logic is as this (all based on ocuk prices)

A 4780 1gb is £223 cheapest and a 4870X2 is £375 so the 4870 x2 is 1.68 times more expensive.

A 4850 1gb is £141 so a 4850X2 should be £237.

Which isn't so bad for what is really two 4850 1gb cards in xfire.

Should give the GTX260+ a kicking anyway :D

And a perfect "budget" buy for a 26" screen and later on just add another one ;)
