Tell Me About... 2003+ Accord Type-S

That is a Mondeo Zetec. Why do you insist on making points against the Mondeo which don't apply to the model recommended?

He prefers the Accord. Get over it.

No, he prefers pictures of the Accord. He's got no idea what he genuinelly prefers because looks are all that matters to him so he'll not have a clue how it compares to a Mazda 6 Sport, Mondeo ST220 or whatever because he refuses to consider them becuase the Honda is such an awesome looking car, apparently :)

Applying the selection criteria you'd use when picking a supercar - which one looks the most fabulous - whilst ignoring the relative abilities of each is comical when spending a few grand on a family hack.

I'm not for one moment saying he shouldnt buy an Accord, more that he should obviously look seriously at alternatives before then selecting the Accord.

Thats a basic mondeo, sighly unfair.

All things being equal, to the OP id still prefer/go for the Accord 2.4 if I was in your position.

Actually, the Accord tends to look better in the metal than in pictures. More expensive looking than the usual hum drum motorway barges.

A dark blue one pulled up alongside me at the petrol station the other day. I was expecting somebody reasonably middle class to step out of it, but a well scruffy looking chap jumped out of it instead. Car looked smart though.

Personally, I don't know what all the fuss is about VTEC - all that manic revving must get tiresome after a while. I'd take the cultured thrum of a BMW straight six any day of the week :D

LOL.. I have already driven a few of the other cars in the price bracket...

A4 - Out of price range unless got lots of miles
Mazda 6 sport - Was a nice drive actually
Octavia V-RS - Was unimpressed by how unsporty it was.
Passat - Not a fan of the looks, a bit wallowy and again put of price range unless high mileage.

I know there are others... And i personally think it looks the best and offers great performance/fun as well..

I would not buy a car on looks alone.. if it looked ace but went like a bag of crap then i would not bother.. but it looks good, goes well, offers better fuel economy, lower tax bracket, nice and modern inside than the mondeo...

At the end of the day its my preferance... was just asking an opinion on the car not after a debate on whats better this car vs Alternatives?

My parents have a 2005 2.2iCDTI Sport Accord, looks alright imho better than the mondeo interior build quality is fine, we have the carbon trim instead of the horrid wood which looks foul.

Try and get one with builtin satnav its well worth the extra, other than that we've had no major issues, biggest ongoing problem is the stupid climate control system.

What's wrong with the climate control?

On a cold morning such as we've had this morning you turn the engine Climate control resumes its previous settings so 22 degrees C in both zones auto vents / auto fan, whatever you do with the Climate control settings the first thing the car does is dump a load of damp air into the car so you go from nice clear windows to steamed up windows in the space of 30 seconds, according to Honda its a design fault with the Accords Climate Control System and they can't do anything to fix it.

Not my car so i haven't googled it but its rather pants.

Looks is in the eye of the beholder surely, when I got my Accord I had a look at the Mondeo but just preferred the look of the Accord, here's a pic of mine when I last washed mine some 3 years ago :)

Teaf on cold mornings once you've first started the car do you have issues with your windows fogging up, also is yours a Derv or Petrol?

See in my opinion thats a nice looking car... Not a fan of the front grille but that will be easily remedied with a Mugen grille. The alloys need to be bigger and the Honda lowering pack is nice to give a nice lowered stance. I like the graphite and the black ones.. Just nice and smart, and i do take care of my cars so it will always mostly be nice and clean and polished...

You obviously take pride in its ownership if you last washed it 3 years ago

To me it's a lump of metal and plastic that I purchased to get me from A to B. Nothing to do with pride I'm afraid, I just don't do washing cars if I can help it.

No problems with the windows fogging up, it has climate which I never switch off and it's a petrol 2.4 type-s.

i'm looking to replace my old vectra in the not too distant future, i like the look of those accords in the colour of yours and the black ones

need to do some reading up on the accord first
