January Transfer Window Thread - rumours and signings here

I like Keane, he just looks out of his depth at Liverpool, maybe because it's a bigger club or he's low on confidence, something isn't right.

Man U have subs like Tevez, Nani. Liverpool will have Heskey, Pennant. You'll never win the league with a squad like that. In my opinion :)

He certainly hasn't hit the ground running but equally he hasn't been as bad as some people have made out (because of the lack of goals) and he's been gradually getting better and better over recent weeks.

As for our squad; Pennant has barely even made the bench this season. Our bench vs City for example was; Cavalieri, Agger, Dossena, Lucas, Babel, Benayoun and Keane which looks more than good enough imo.

Not just any sort of midfielder, we need a proper DM.

Indeed, more rumours about Yaya Toure coming in Jan, that would be a great signing for us! Wouldn't mind seeing a Big CB either, someone who can win headers against the hoof it up teams.

Mad to stay? Having seen Walcott move from Southampton to Arsenal and do nothing for a couple of seasons I think good counsel might be to stay for another year and a half and then look to moving.

Got to disagree with that.

Walcott may not have quite lived up to all the hype given to him ("oh my god he's English and chosen by Wenger - he's GOT to be amazing!!"), but to say he's done nothing when this is his first real run without a lengthy injury spell is unfair.

We're much stronger and creative with him there and look a bigger threat. He's playing very much as a winger or forward and it's easy to see that with a more clinical front two, he'd have many more assists.

Secondly we have lots of kids at the club who have been bumped into older squads. We've an excellent setup for it.

I haven't followed his career so didn't know he'd had long lay-offs. I just know Arsenal fans on here have wanted him picked at times so he's been available but hasn't played/has been benched.

So have we ;)

Snodgrass too

Yeah, though I prefer him out wide. Why we're still playing 4 centre mids when we have Robinson and Snodgrass to play the wings is beyond me.

Yep exactly what we saying the other day, this is why we lost the play off final. Robinson is our most creative player, why he starts on the bench puzzles me. Delph and Douglass should be in the center with Robbo on the right, Snodgrass on the left or Kilkenny.

He had a shoulder operation which meant he was out for several months. He's also had other lay offs (knee?) as well. So heh, I guess you are slightly right when you say he's done nothing (but I think you implied a different meaning lol).

It's also tied in with why he used to be benched. Because of the injuries he was so unproven and Hleb and Eboue have at times churned out the goods. Also it's best not to rush him back. Wenger's so careful about that now ,he's less and less likely to take risks with players returning from injury.

But now Theo is playing he's starting to get much stronger. He had a good game against West Ham but with Bendtner upfront there was sod all the winger could have done. He had a terrific game against Fenerbache as well. He's starting to get consistant and I reckon he'll have a good one against Spurs tomorrow.

So have we ;)

Ours is better :p

Don't Liverpool learn, you don't see Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea buying these kind of players that look good in their poor teams, Heskey, he's done good for England but still looks like a donkey, he can follow in the footsteps of failures at Pool, Keane, Pennant, Bellamy, look great in mediocre sides, look awful in top 4 sides.

Well chelsea got anelka last year and he has been absolutely rubbish for them.

Can see spurs spending big getting a DCM in who can lead the line and probably a centre back, just hope we dont go rushing in and getting a load of new faces who are unproven.

I think Moyes has got all our transfer money in his pay packet now. We wont sign any one unless we get some one to invest or Kenwright sells the club.

Watch this space...

and Showunmi to come in.

Not that he's a lot of use, worst player in the squad in my opinion

Just what I've heard from a whispering conversion on the bus but Ricky Lambert supposedly being watched by Leeds, not sure how true that is mind.

I would hate to see Delph leave, after the first time I watched him play I couldn't understand why Gary didn't play him in 5-6 games after it, i still think Robinson should get more first team time too

Delph is still very young, he needs "protecting" I suppose, probably why he didn't start those games.

Showunmi is alright, he's like Kandol, so strong and can win headers all day, but better, that's why we bought him so he can play along side Beckford.

I'd love it if we were interested in Lambert but I suspect loads of other clubs are too.

Gilly you were saying about our wingers, I'm a tad unhappy Johnson is off, I know he's not really featuring now but I still think he's our best attacking option especially on the left. Problem is we have too many good midfielders.

Only a loan, and he's still young but I hope he doesn't rot away when he comes back. He's awful at LB though. We still need more cover at CB, our defending against Walsall was very very bad at times.

One of the papers rumouring a 44m spending spree by spurs!
Yep the new manager has had the time to clear his desk at Pompey, settle in at Spurs, meet and assess the squad, identify his transfer targets and leak them to the press ;)
Spurs are in talks with Portsmouth about bringing Campbell back to WHL!
Now that really won't ever happen.... ever, ever, ever, ever..... :D

Kind of applies...

Forget the drama of Dimitar Berbatov's arrival, Sir Alex Ferguson has described getting Darren Fletcher to sign a new contract as the biggest relief of the season.

Biggest Relief? :/

Rumours of Defoe coming back to Spurs is an interesting one. Will be interesting to see what happens in January on that front, it seemed he really liked the club and don't see why he would have any objections if he was made the right promises by Redknapp.
