BBC Issue apology over Ross/Brand 'Prank'

Enough people enjoy their comedy and see this for what it really is to keep them. Any one who says they should go because of this never really liked them or appreciated their humour to start with.

It's not nice to tell someone that you slept with their grandaughter, granted, but this is being blown out of all proportion on account of who it was said to.

If they were my fav comedians I'd still sack them both regardless, they abused their position and were totally out of order, its the principle.

I'd love to see how most guys in this thread would act if they got in one night and played back a message made by some guys claiming to have nailed their wife or daughter, ok maybe thats a bit closer than a grand-daughter but would most find that funny, like hell they would, they'd go frickin' nuts lol

BBC made things worse as its taken days for any formal apology

Things is if someone had done this that wasnt cool then everyone would have jumped on the bandwagon but because its two cool/alternative/poplular guys then people say everyones over-reacting

Exactly, if you watch stand up you will see far more offensive material. Big fuss over nothing!

Wrong, if you go choose to go to standup then you must assume you could be offended as its part the part of going for these kind of acts so you take that risk and make your choice to go or not go, these phone calls are a totally different kettle of fish altogether

Yeah and while I'd probably be angry if I were in that situation it's not like I could turn round and say I hadn't had a laugh at someone else's expense in my life. If it was obviously a joke and I wanted and got a genuine apology then I wouldn't be bothered by it at all.

What do you care about the phone call though? Sachs wanted an apology and he's either got or is about to get it.

On the topic of Jonathan Ross being good etc..

Hes pretty funny at times, but dont you think that he is crap at interviews, because he seeks more attention himself.

Rather than good question and answer stuff (which i agree can get a bit boring), the opts for constant trying to be funny and not actually bothering to interview them much at all (good, but again gets boring)

I am not so sure, as far as I am aware Sachs was meant to give a telephone interview but didn't turn up. So it wasn't exactly an unsolicited call. Also I would hope that Sachs was probably aware that if his grand-daughter is mid 20s and in a goth dance group called "Satan's *****" she probably isn't on the shy side sexually. Was it in poor taste? Without a doubt. Is it as bad as it is being made out? Probably not.

Russell Brand is the biggest knob in the bbc at this current time , he isn't funny... he looks like an ugly women and didn't he come from Big Brother?

I suppose that if it was your grandparent they had called, saying stuff like this, you would still find it funny??

If it was Brand yes because it has context. If is was a random unsolicited call about the sexual escapades of the females in my family then I might be upset but would you be upset? And if so why?

Sachs *was* supposed to appear on the show so it wasn't an unsolicited call. You've hit the nail on the head with the reference to the "Satanic *****".

How this has ended up in parliament is beyond me. We've got a global financial crisis on going, the euro and pound losing value in all markets except Australia and MPs are answering questions about a broadcast made to 400,000 people on a saturday night radio show 10days ago

Having now listened to the clip I have to make two points:
1. It was quite funny
2. It was mostly Ross' fault.
3. He must have known to expect this sort of thing when he originally agreed to do an interview with Brand.
4.It is beyond absurd that parliament's time is being spent on this.

I think jonathan ross is good in his place - his radio show (at least the podcasts) are good, and his film show is good too, though i have very little time for his chat show. Brand is generally not funny at all, though i'm torn as i use a similar flowery, garrulous manner of speech.

As for this thing... Having read the full transcripts of the messages, they were out of order and should be reprimanded. It's not parliament's business though. Surely they can trust the relevant bodies ie ofcom and the bbc to deal with this?
