I'm a 37 year old guy and have always had good eye sight, now recently i have been struggling to read the football results on Sky Sports News. My dad wears reading glass's, my brother (35) has wore glass's a number of years now. I'm worried about having to wear glass's. Anybody going through the same as me? How much are they nowadays, (not Jack Duckworth style). I also play pool to a reasonable standard, could my eye sight be damaging my game?

Is this a medical thread?

Well anyway I wouldnt worry about it, what exactly is there to worry about? Lots of people wear glasses/contacts. I guess it could be effecting your pool game, dont really know though.

I think glasses cost around £100 for a nice pair.

GLASSES man, but seriously just go and get checked, I've worn them since I was 2 and a half, it's a necessary crutch but you can always get contacts if you don't like them. They stop your eyes getting a lot worse a lot quicker too, especially at your age :p

Edit - get your prescription from the optician and order them online, much cheaper.

a lot of people have worn glasses since they were born... well at a young age where it can be diagnosed. I've been wearing them since i was about 10 doesn't bother me.

Mine went when I was 21 :( Tbh though you should go have an eye test every couple of years anyway - optitians can spot the early signs of some diseases such as diabetes.

I think I'm right in saying that if you use a monitor during your normal work, then your employer has to pay for you to have an eye test - it's only like £20 anyway. If you need glasses then you'll be amazed at how good it is too see things clearly again.

Just go to the opticians and get it done with. I was gutted when I went last week and got told I had 20/20 because glasses really suit me!

Why not just wear frames then? ;)

I've just had glasses two years ago. I'm 52 now, so I'd say I've had them quite late relatively.

I'm meant to wear glasses since when i was 15 i shone 2 laser pens in my eyes right up close for like 10 minutes. However i don't wear them. Here's to hoping i don't randomly wake up blind one day.

Also as stated above see your optician.
