*** Red Alert 3 ***

It's not that kind of game, you can't really take it seriously online. I'll be getting it to play with my flatmates though, nothing like a bit of backstabbing to give you a break from swearing at Mario Kart.

Quite the opposite! Online people take it too seriously. My housemate and I laughed many a time when we were playing a 2v2 and one of the other players was going mental at us saying we were cheating/n00bs/etc/etc because we were winning. Never understood why the losing team called us n00bs but there we go. Quote comical how angry people get over an online game! :D

I'm hoping it will have a serious online following, I'm going to try my hand at the ladders etc. Gamereplays.org have also got some tourneys etc lined up.

Well i've found a site which claims it's ready to go right away, and I know from experience that they ship to the UK! They're quite a well known online retailer as well.

Not trying to be obtuse, it's just that when I popped into the high street and had a look at some of the pre-order boxes they said it was due for release last week!

Anyone know how the multiplayer in RA3 will be done? I dont usualy play RTS in multiplayer because in games like WC3 there were highly experienced players who made new accounts, meaning newbies would have to battle insanely tough people, and obviously loose. Also in both WC3 and DoW there was the problem that i prefer bigger team battles (4v4, 3v3 etc) but there was so many people who disconect during a game (or with the pathetic wc3 community, spam chat to try and get people to loose connection due to all the text being recieved by that person) that team battles were impossible without a proper clan/guild. Will RA3 be any different?

Everyone was crap at RA2, Generals and C&C3 online, there's just no competition and no real strategy, hence you can't play it "hardcore" or seriously. Still good fun but pointless trying to get good as it's very shallow.

From the videos I've seen it looks as if the online play is very competitive.

Compared to other C&C games maybe but compared to almost any other RTS it isn't, it's just not what C&C is about, and that's certainly not a bad thing!

yeah me too they are causing lots of buzz for nothing and discouraging potential buyers. i mean we all know that drm is here to stay. someone can say "well i'm not buying the game, i'll pirate it" and if most of the people think like that developers are just not going to bother with pc games, they can make all the money they want from consoles. its already happening and stuff like these can only make things worse.

You refuse to get the point i suppose - DRM is broken anyway, it does not help!

E-mail just arrived - Order Shipped!

No fair, my Red Alert 3 order status is still preorder. My fallout 3 preorder on the other hand has updated today being listed as 'being picked and packed' :D

Not sure why my Red Alert 3 order isnt the same, both games have the same friday release date.

DRM's been around for ages. Look at Red Alert 2, you need a valid CD key to play online, excatly the same as RA3. RA2 was cracked, just as RA3 will be. The only difference is I can install RA2 as many times as I want, no matter what upgrades or problems I have.

my copy is being picked and packed should be here thursday. I bought the rather expensive collectors edtion for the extra mp maps, they better be good:p
