I went to Ironbridge today and learnt a lot about Abraham Darby the Godfather of the Industrial Revolution.
He was a Quaker and while there I read quite a bit about them and was quite impressed.
I'm an atheist but appreciated the main principles of their beliefs one being "Everybody is equal" which meant they treated their workers absolutely brilliant.
Cadbury was also a Quaker and they treated their workers like their own family.

So is anybody a Quaker or had experience?

.....but only in the mornings. ;)

Sigh - so much ingorance as usual in a GD religion thread.

There was a lengthy interview with some Quakers (or Religious Society of Friends as they preferred to be called) on the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 a while back. Very interesting, they seemed like very nice people - quite a few posters here could learn a thing or two from them.

Edit: For whose who think they're Amish, here's the Quakers website in the UK: http://www.quaker.org.uk/
