Any Quakers on here?

Why though? I mean quite clearly everyone isn't equal so why pretend?

Very true and for my sins I deliver Equality & Diversity lessons where the main principle is that people aren't equal but Diverse and should be given equal chances.
However, I get where the Quakers are coming from.

Sigh - so much ingorance as usual in a GD religion thread.

There was a lengthy interview with some Quakers (or Religious Society of Friends as they preferred to be called) on the Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2 a while back. Very interesting, they seemed like very nice people - quite a few posters here could learn a thing or two from them.

Edit: For whose who think they're Amish, here's the Quakers website in the UK: http://www.quaker.org.uk/
Shut up serious Sally. Quakers / Amish - same thing. It's all a bunch of god worshipping hippy crap.

My brother is a Quaker, he's also a borderline alcholic and a raving homosexual. ASFAICT quakers are all about mutual respect, they are defiantly not Christian zealous or puritans.

I'm a Quaker...

.....but only in the mornings. ;)

Prefer Ready Brek tbh :o

The "Porridge" in some Truckstops would put Solvite out of business!:p:D:D

It is true about having no technology - that site looks like it was done on a Spectrum :)

I quiet like a site like that, straight to the point, no BS unlike every other site in the world. They also offer a variety of viewing options for people who may have issues viewing in default scheme.

Much more pleasant then 99% of websites around which seem to love covering themselves in flash while navigation almost impossible without GPS :o

My mate works for Cadbury's and he said there are no bars around Bournville in Brum at all due to the Cadbury family Quaker beliefs.

Weird, what kind of technology aren't they allowed to use?

I mean glasses are an invention and one of the guys on the website clearly is wearing them. Is that not technology?

When does "technology" become accepted?

it's the same for rowntree's in york (as was) joseph rowntree was a quaker and built new earswick for his employees - no pub in that place.

Only just seen this because I was searching for posts quoting me, obviously this isnt one, but it was started regarding the grandson of my namesake. While I am on the whole anti organised religion, I have a lot of respect for quakers. My grandparents moved onto the same road as a friends meeting house maybe ten or so years ago and got into going along to some of the meetings, especially the more social ones. A lot of the ethos is one of self reflection and from that respect for others, which I think is a pretty good approach to take, whatever your deity beliefs may be, it seems to encourage similar views to buddhist teachings in that way.
