Some of queries I'd appreciate some feedback on:
1) what's the view out there on Kaspersky for Int Security & Malware protection? I've heard some good things from 1 or 2 people I've been speaking to but wanted to throw it out to a wider audience
2) Even though I have Kaspersky running, I am getting a message on Windows Security Centre telling me that the Kaspersky Anti virus isn't turned on. If I press the turn it on button, nothing happens and the message remains
3) Do I need to use Windows firewall if I have the Kaspersky firewall up and running

Thanks guys

im using the kaspersky trial and its great so far. No false positives I was getting with AVG. No BSOD I was getting with NOD32 on startup. Cant fault it yet, think im gonna buy it next month.

This is interesting. Kaspersky came free with my Asus motherboard but wont install on Vista 64bit. I already had PCtools Internet Security which was really good, but it wont work with Vista 64 either :(

I'm currently using AVG free edition while I look for something more permanent.

I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security for almost 2 years now, with Vista 64 bit for about 10 months of that, has always worked well with it, and not given any real problems, it, along with ESET products (ie NOD32 etc) is probably the best you can get at this present time.

Been running Vista x64 for over 12 months now and been on KIS v7 and 2009 (v8) no issues, its one of the best AV products out there at the moment

To answer the OP questions

1) Kasperksy detection and removal are one of the best out there, very effective on Malware and KIS has a built in HIPS which helps prevent infection

2)make sure you have the latest version V8.0.0.454

http://www.kaspersky.com/productupdates

3)Kis has a built in firewall which has done very good on recent leak tests so no need for the windows firewall
