Chrome - how is it compared to the Fox of Fire?

Pretty much the title really.

How is it? I am trying it out now, and I have to say it is really quite impressive, One thing I do like about it is the kind of "max screen" thing as I browse.

I do miss some of the add-ons I have though for Firefox, in particular the development ones I had to check keywords (I am doing a lot of SEO currently).

It seems fast though.... google may be on to yet another winner here

well there's no adblock plus with easylist subscription

i don't even bother using the internet if that's not on a machine

Going some random googling currently looking for a few nice addons, in particular keyword tools for chrome and finally an image zoom kind of addon, or don't they exist yet?

Worse still. Clicking in the middle mouse button doesn't seem to allow me to scroll! This just isn't fair !

I wonder if no built in ad-blockers because of google ads

There is an ad-block just not a very good one. I've been using it since release & I must say I do prefer the whole feel of it. There's still some work to be done to it though.

I much prefer chrome to firefox, but then I really don't understand the fascination with firefox, it's right at the bottom of the browser pile for me. Give me Opera any day.

So really, try it and decide for yourself

Chrome beta was nice for me. However, I'm a bit sceptical with Google's motives and extended usage of browser habits data.

Plus, without Adblock Plus it’s horrendous. Forgot how much advertising there is on the internet now. Too use to clean loading pages without annoying adds/ pop ups.

So I'm still sticking to Firefox for now. Am sure over time pluggin support for Chrome will get better, as to Google allowing an add blocking pluggin? Who knows?

What about the "the Iron Browser " which is based on the chrome source code

I am seeing this mentioned frequently on security forms, haven’t had the chance to test it myself yet

Agreed about the scepticism. I'm not in the least bit paranoid about spyware etc, but its a fact that chrome sends all sorts of data back to google - everything you type into the address bar and search section and god knows what else. And you are assigned a unique user ID too.

It amazes me how the same people who soil their pants when superantimalwareblockerplus2008 finds the odd tracker cookie will blindly install stuff like chrome.

Also, I'm always surprised how many ads remain when using FF and adblock. If you've ever used a 3rd party app such as the mighty Admuncher you'd know what I mean.

I've been using Chrome for a while, but I've noticed a few bugs. Windows Live Mail doesn't load correctly (I can't reply to an email) - though that may be due to me being on the dev path rather than the stable path (MS Silverlight didn't work correctly on the stable ver).

I absolutely love the UI, the home page and the auto search filter, but there's a few things I miss from firefox - spellchecker, being able to middle-click scroll, double clicking the top left corner to close..

It's on it's way to being a great browser - it's faster and more lightweight than firefox, with a nicer GUI imo, but it just doesn't feel complete yet.

I think it's good, quick and I like the fact you can set your tabs to load automatically (rather than most recently used).

Sometimes you have to click on quick links three times before the drop down menu appears.

Only been using it a week or so but I haven't found anything particularly annoying.

What really annoys me is that Google is very slow to release updates to fix bugs. I love the speed of V8 but the display issues with certain drop down menus in PHP render it useless to me. Why hasn't Google had an update facility that pushes updates every week or so?
