I'm having some real issues with insurance here. I passed my test not that long ago, and I'm currently insured on a 1.0 51 plate Polo. I'm 25.

However, I need to temporarily drive a '51 2.3 Toyota Previa for about a week, and no-one I've looked at will insure me. The existing insurer for the owner won't touch me, and dayinsure.com require that you have had your full license for at least 12 months.

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone who will insure me temporarily on this car, without the requirement of having had my license for more than 12 months?

read the OP he says he needs 12 months on his licence, unfortunatly i dont know of anywhere. Will keep my eyes out tho!

Ecar do monthly policy's often pretty resonable.

I had to use them to insure a guy i know to ride my motorbike back when i fell and knackered my knee

Add it to someone elses insurance and get them to add you as a second driver for a week?

Frowned upon in here, as its classified as fronting. But if your in a crash, they would need to prove you are not the main driver.

Quinn Direct insures me on a 1.25l Fiesta for £1100 a year. I've had my license for 4 months. They also chuck in third-party only insurance for any other car I am not a named driver of; excluding 4x4 and cares with an engine size > 3.0l.

All of the temporary cover sites require 12 months from what i can see, ive used insuredaily a fair few times now but again, its 12 months min :/

You dont state that you have tried your own insurance though? Adding another car to my own policy is around £15/week.

I've tried on my own policy and on the owner's policy, neither will touch me.

Ecar just quoted me £313 for 10 days cover. Grrrrrrrr  Dayinsure would have done it for £50, but it wouldn't be valid.

I drive and am insured on a Vectra, and having my license only 5months. I can drive any car with owners permission!

Indeed, this looks to be the only option and is what i would do in your case. Buy a policy, any policy at any price, and then cancel it.

Although wouldn't the deposit required be a heafty layout or will this be refundable once cancelled?

On your current policy, does it say that you are insured Third Party Fire & Theft on any other vehicle that has less than a 3.5 engine, not a 2 door sports car & is not a 4x4?? As on my current police it states that i can still drive any other vehicle that is not in the category listed above & i am only covered to drive another vehicle on TPFT.

Adrian Flux... I managed to insure my 5L mustang, i'm younger than you and haven't had my license for a year yet!!!

as above

you say you're 25

if you took the policy out when you were 25, you should have TPF&T cover on other vehicles
