BBC Issue apology over Ross/Brand 'Prank'

Well done to Brand on resigning, nice fingers up to the BBC who need him more than he needs them.

This whole thing is a complete joke and the only 'national disgrace' is the reaction and coverage this whole things has received.

No, you just wanted to join in the controversial tv personality hunt.

No, I just agree with the Ms Baillie. Quote from the BBC gives her opinions and they matter most.

She told Sun newspaper's website she was "thrilled" over the suspensions "because justice has been done".

"Me and my granddad are both really happy," she added.

"I'm glad it's all over with, as far as I'm concerned."

Earlier, she told the paper: "What's funny about humiliating a lovely old man who has never harmed anyone in his life?"

Brand and Ross were "beyond contempt"," she added.

Anyway, I just wanted to balance some of the extreme-liberal-left-offend everyone-don't care less attitudes. I sometimes wonder if there are any some standards people out there would have now.

Intriguing to see the words "offend everyone" in there. A gross exaggeration that I would have expected to see from the media, but not a rational person.

"Now I'm off to the pub in my corset and thong to spend the thousands I'm milking from this story, Max! get me a cab Max!"

Haven't really read the whole thred.

This is dumb, didn't only a few people complain originally? Then it got to the media and then every bored middle aged housewife also complained even if they hadn't even heard the event.

It's ridiculous.

I said attitudes. Point being that if 59million people complained in the UK you wouldn't budge on your stance. You think its fine therefore it stands. The fact that people find it offensive and the persons involved upsetting is irrelevent.

Only two people who actually listened to the show complained. Everyone else is in it for the sport.

In hindsight, BBC should have taken steps earlier and faster.

1 - The editor of that show should be sacked.
2 - Brand and Ross should have been disciplined much quicker, ie salary paid into charity

I read the first few of these and all of the posters seem to have a personal dislike for both Ross and Brand, claiming them to be 'dumbing down' British culture. Certainly it's safe to assume that the majority of people who actually care about this nonsense are those who are up in arms against it.

Oh, and you are of course entitled to your opinion or anyone else's you may choose to mirror.

I'm not sure if I am allowed to post links here or not. However go to the BBC site and click have you say on the issue. Then hit the top recommended. The first few comments are my thoughts entirely and seem to be what a good majority of readers think.

EDIT: I can't find any rules against it.

What you fail to realise is that all this whole situation has done, has given a voice to people who dont like them as entertainers anyway.

I think frankie boyle was funny, but is now tiresome and crap... If he was thrust into the media spotlight people with opinions like me would have a place to moan.

People can like and dislike who they want.. watch what they want or dont want..

freedom of choice. people have took it personal, however the people who were the actual personal targets of this, have accepted the apologies and acted respectfully (cept for the cash in grand daughter)

I think Russell Howard on Mock the Week is absolute dump, and i dont think he deserves a spot on it, but thats just my thoughts..

If this crap comedian made a joke about Bum raping Michael Parkinson then the BBC would be in a world of grief, then Haters would have a chance to complain like hell and give them some crap for it :D

All its done has put them on a pedastal in place to recieve grief from people. Dont go thinking its from people who actually like these entertainers.. because people who like them, would accept it was a bit bad taste, but their liking for them would make them overlook it

What a big old load of ****.

This was so offensive only two people bothered to complain when the show was on and that was about the language.

This is no more offensive than any stand up comic that personally points anyone out for a mocking.

Frank skinner on his show made jokes about child abuse and Matthew Kelly despite him not being guilty of proved guilty of anything. This happens all the time on our TV.

It shows how much power the sun newspaper has in creating this frenzy. The girl will be in zoo magazine next week and will make a few quid out of it.

How is this any different than when say chris moyles singles out another celeb for a huge dose of bullying, abuse and ridicule.

Yeah the joke was in bad taste and poorly done but the sun leading the charge of indignation are hardly the newpaper to pick up and play the morale high ground.

I cannot believe how quickly they have sucked in idiots and i'm sick of hearing about it. Is it really front page news and headline news.

Even if they sack Ross his show is so popular ITV would pick him up and pay him twice as much money.

A load of fuss about nothing.

I agree, although it's a dam shame as I loved listening to the podcast in the gym every week. Was not as good without Matt Morgan though.
Brand has loads of Hollywood projects on the go at the moment so he won't be hurting that's for sure!!

All absolutely ridiculous, sure it was a joke (Well, a fact) taken too far and aired too publicly, but to suspend them, was stupid, and now they've lost Brand, who meant a lot more to them, than they did to him, I'm sure.

Good on ya Russ, pretty sure he'll be back on the airwaves with a less prudish establishment sometime soon.

If the show was pre-recorded, the goon who ok'd it to air is the ONLY one who should be paying for this. If I had a radio show, and did a pre-recorded segment making obviously "not fit to air" comments, the only way a producer would braodcast it, is to create contraversy.
