Hello guys, i'm wondering if my router is not plugged in to the master socket and I remove my bell/ring wire on the master socket, will this help at all?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand
I am having issues with very low noise margin on my line. I read that removing the outdated bell/ring wire can help. I'm plugged into an extension right now instead of the master socket and i'm wondering if removing the wire on the master socket would do anything at all.

well I bit the bullet and went ahead and removed the ring wire and guess what, noise margin went from 1/-1 to 13!!! winner

I tried this one tonight with no joy, removed the Orange/White one ok but if I removed the White/Orange one my router would just stick at negotiating for a long period and I don't have time to test and see if it will eventually connect.

Anyone have any ideas? Should I leave it longer to negotiate or do I require a 3rd cable for some reason?!?!

You should have three wires in total on your faceplate:

- Green
- White
- Orange

Disconnect the Orange (Bell Wire) cable leaving the Green and White connected.

Removing the bell wire made a dramatic difference with my line a year or two back. My sync was all over the place between 6-8MB and my noise margin was also very poor.
I removed the bell wire and it's now been syncing at 8128 24/7 with a rock solid noise margin.

I'm currently locked on at 8Mbit, however I'm on the Sky 16mbit Max package. Are there any special requirements for this, having something reconnected etc or I should be able to get this on my line? Are there any easy ways of getting BT out to improve your line stats such as an old trick like turning the gain up at their end etc? Cheers

If your line's capable of it, and you're actually on ADSL2+, you'll get up to 16Mbps.
There's no "tricks" to get more, unless moving house counts.
